I installed the NAPA kit and after 3 alignments not holding, the local Ford dealership gave me, at no charge, the Ford kit. No problems since!

Hey Chris, I wasn't pointing the finger at you buddy. I appreciate your input. My own actions caused my problems. Funny thing is, the stock nuts worked just fine with the new cambolts on the driver side. I went to do the same to the passenger side and that's when I couldn't duplicate what I did on the other side. My alignment guy is going to try installing them himself. If that doesn't work, it's off to the dealer for their kit I guess.

Loosebolt, that makes me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one with problems.

Thanks guys,
Jeff

Chris,

Is the FORD kit the same as the ROUSH kit? Or do you know?
The ROUSH seemed to be much STOUTER than the NAPA ones
I first looked at ... and the NAPA seemed more GENERIC if ya
know what I mean ... Just for ANY F150???

It almost sounds like you still have the rectacgular washers in place. The Roush Cam Bolts are stout peices. I installed them with the Roush Kit and everything went smooth. I read somewhere to install the cam bolts from the inside out. I did this and the alighnment guy said it makes the alignment go smoother.
Good luck.

I also have the ROUSH kit and think it's a dream to drive
and install. What I was trying to point out was that the
NAPA kit seemed much thinner than the ROUSH one, and
I wondered if the FORD one is the same part #. ROUSH
is BEEFY ... NAPA seems SKINNY ...

It would not be hard for someone that didn't know about
the square alignment washers in the stock vehicles to miss
taking them out. But I had READ all aboput it here, before
I tackled the job.

not sure if Ford and roush are the same or not? I have never personally seen one of the Roush kits. the ford part does appear to be beefier than the NAPA kit though.

later,

Wink

I just installed the GroundForce 1/2 kit a few weeks ago.

I looked at the NAPA bolts and the Ford bolts. I chose the Ford bolts as they looked a bit stronger. The cost at my local dealer was $6.50 for each bolt and $7.50 for each washer, bought the washers from one dealer and the bolts from another. As superfords said you reuse the origional nuts.

And dont forget Herb's washers, $15.00.

It looks like Roush uses the Ford Cam Bolts. They are stout peices.
