Chip and pulley question.

I'm having my 4#er and densos installed today. I already had my chip reburned for the pulley. I told them to gap the plugs at .038. Know I need to know when to reinstall the chip. Before or after the pulley is put on? Thanks in advance.

You want the chip on before you start driving the truck with the 4lber.

It shouldnt matter much when you put it on...as long as you put it on. I wouldnt go driving around town with a 4# and a stock program though... I would just install the chip the same day.

Or you can just run it without the chip.... that's what I am planning to do!

You can run without the chip ... Just don't get on it ...

Although I am waiting for the guys that decided that
they can run without a chip altogether with the 4#
because the "PCM" will correct for the extra air to get
back to us with the results of THEIR experiment <grin>

Exactly as SVT-KY said. I drove around with a 6# for 3 days until I could get it dyno-tuned. I just didn't ever go into boost. You'll be fine if you do the same. Since you already have the chip though, throw it in right away and enjoy

cyntaxx, I actually went with another place that was more local anyway. They are charging $247 for the plugs and pulley. That's with a military discount. I should be able to find someone to do the gauges for less than $300, which would put me under the $550. Also, I called Ford just for laughs, and found out plug change would be $265.

A Fast or Ram Air kit will take at least an hour.....................
