My BRAND new L blew up!!!!!!

Well some of you guys may have known that a while back i planned to get a new L sometime in mid Feb, well i purchased a 03 Black L. I drove it home, washed it, all the good stuff. Then later THAT SAME DAY i decided to just go crusin around in it, i didnt get but about 5 miles from my house when i heard a loud *** pop, and the engine just died, got it towed to the dealer, and found out it launched a plug. Well lets just say that the dealer was VERY VERY coopertive, becuase i was pissssed off, so pissed. They took that POS back. 39 miles on it when it blew. One of the 1st launched plug cases they have got on an 03 they said.....what luck i have. They said it will be fixed in about a week. Well if anyone wants a new 03 L let me know, there is a good chance im going to sell it as soon as i get it back, i cant have that in the back of my mind, that it might happen again. I cant imagine what might happen under WOT. All in all I am VERY dissapointed. The best medicine for that was to hop in my SS and plant my foot, shift out of 1st at about 50, and smoke almost anything on the road. I think i'll stick with that.

I thought everyone knew by now that 5.4's and 6.8's are blowing plugs. They have been doing it for several years. What's the problem? If you give in to the "No Boundries" campaign which shows the consumers how fun it is to play with these new Ford products, you will pay sometime down the road for engineering mistakes. So what if you have 36,001 miles.

easter... you should just make that your sig so don't even have to type a message whenever you post that!

01SSmokinSS, sorry for your woes... I have been there myself. You must have really been fond of the Lightnings before plunking down the cash for one (especially coming from an SS)... so I'm surprised you're discouraged this easily. Best of luck, whatever you decide!

I thought the '03 heads were supposed to have more threads and this problem was "solved"?

The only way Ford will fix this problem is if people complain to NHTSA and other places...

Thats what i thought also, i had seen a few posts about the prob being solved, so i thought it was......the reason im discouraged easily, is because i dont know when this might happen again, what if it happens after the warranty is out, that out of pocket for me, and i cant do that, i just turned, 19 i barely make the cash to pay all my stuff, i just cant afford that if it happens.

39 miles??? I would tell them to give me my money back... every cent! Why get the truck back and try to resell it, you will take a loss?

OR EVEN BETTER!

I would demand they warranty both heads for the life of the vehicle reguardless of mods and never worry about it again. If they refused I would tell them "to go (something Rob_02Lightning would say) themselves!
