Exclamation ***Anyone who has launched a plug, or knows someone......check this out!!!!****

This problem has gotten more and more frequent. Fortunately it hasnt' happened to me or my dad, but just look how many people just in the past few weeks on here alone. We have to at least make an attempt to do something about this. Even if it's all for not, at least we tried.

Anyone has has launched a plug, or knows someone, fill out, or have them fill out a complaint form here

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/

Edit - Another link here - Doug http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

This is how the ball got started with the intercooler trouble on the 99-00's.

Like I said, at least it's an effort. The worst that could happen is nothing.....maybe they'll agree to extend a warrenty on this problem.....who knows.

I'd like to know out of all the blown plugs, how many are stock plugs and how many are not stock plugs.

That might just be the best idea i have heard on here yet. It would be great to make them fix it. I hope it works. I have never blown a plug so i geuss i cant fill it out but i wish i could help. Keep this on top of the board, i hope everyone does this. Maybe Doug could find a way to keep this one the top of the board for all to see so it doesnt make it to the old stuff and everyone will get a chance to read it??? Lets hope it works. Great idea.

It would be really cool if we could get the webmaster to lock this thread at the top so everyone can keep seeing it. Please Please Please.

I blew out a plug. And it was a set that the dealer had put in after doing my intercooler recall.

Where on the NHTSA page is the form?

I have read about this problem all over the site.
Is this just a L problem or it has happened to regular trucks with the 5.4?

Problem

this is happening on the majority of ford's modular motors, post 97'. 5.4's, 4.6's and I have heard a few on the v10's in the SD's.

Spread this around and let's make a run at it. We pay alot of money and invest alot of time into our vehicles, as does most, but this is an obvious issue and to me, not only a costly, but dangerous issue. I'm surprised there's been no explosions or fires as of yet, especially if the plug came out in a not so violent matter and happened to be still in the coil pack, floating round on top of the head. Like I said, i've seen at least a half dozen cases in just the past 2 weeks, immagine how much more this is happening???? Just fill out the form. There were like over 500 complaints I believe filed about the intercoolers.

I know it takes up bandwidth, but we desperately need a sticky on this................Blown Plug Sticky Thread please!!!!

I know on some of the other boards I've seen they have stickies with the major issues...........(i.e. Hondas and Acura V6 models with bad trannys, Altimas and unannounced electrical fires, etc.)

Excellent Link tallimeca and an awesome idea.
Like you, mine hasn't spit YET, but the whole Lightning community needs to be concerned since it's only a matter of time for most of us. I look at it like this, we all got the Ford cancer, some are gonna die, some won't, BUT WE ALL GOT THE CANCER.

The trick here is to SOMEHOW find a way to get a list of exactly how many Lightning's or 5.4's for that matter have Spit.
Do we have any good hackers here ???? Come on someone has to be able to access Ford's computers or records ???
Maybe it's public info, it should be, is there a way to find out how many wrrnty claims have been made for a particular Brand and Model ?

well

if everyone files a complaint, we can count the complaint.

I think it's funny how many complaints there are about the airbags not deploying.......haven't heard crap about that. Seems kinda important to me.....ya think???
