Hi Pete, WELCOME
It is down 20 HP, "BUT" seems to have a stronger Lower end than a 01 or 02. The difference is mostly the MAS, the 99 is 80mm, my 02 is 90mm. Also I have 3.73 gears, and the 99 has 3.55, thats about it.

BEWARE OF THE INTERCOOLER, it needed to be changed, there were major problems and it was recalled.
The recall is now over, so if it wasn't done, it could cost you in more ways than one

Is there anyway of telling without asking the guy? What was wrong with the intercooler? Also, is 22,900 good for a 99 with 34809 miles on it? thanks

99-00

are down 20hp on the 01 and newer like rob said but that is really easy difference to make up... intake, exhaust ,chip, pulley and a filter and there easily just as fast as a equally modded 01 or newer. As far as the intercooler goes some have seen there intercooler level drop other have not. When I bought my 00 I was curious about that too... after the dealer ran the vin they advised that the previous owner had brought it in and had the updated cooler installed. i'm sure you can just go to a Ford dealer and ask the service writer if he'd mind checking. My buddies 99 level would drop a little but after he let it sit overnight you could smell coolant when he fired it not to mention the slight smoke show out the pipes... As for the price on the 99 I'vee seen em charge more I paid 23 and change for mine with 13xxx on it with an extended warranty tax and title ...beat em down on the price if u can..trust they wil work with you if they wanna sell that beast good luck hope to hear your behind the wheel soon

There are many very quick 99s out there. Their power levels can be brought up fairly easily.

Check for cracked wheel studs as this happens sometimes because the 99 L has 12mm studs vs. 14mm studs for the rest. If you plan to 1/4 mile it, 16" slicks will help lower your gear ratio for quicker 'grunt' off the line. 99/00s have a steel driveshaft vs an aluminum one in the 01/03s.

Wow, thanks for the replies you guys kick a**. I've been searching and readin on here all day, hahaha. Is a 4# pulley to much for stock rods and does the boost bypass effect supercharger life or have any other negative effects?
THANKS
