Old horsepower Versus New horsepower

I really dont think an L will ever reach the status of some of those old muscle cars. A 1970 Chevelle SS with the 454 was the last of a dying breed. After the gas crisis in 1971, they cut the horsepower way back on those gas guzzling carburated beasts. So, for years they didnt makes anything that could even touch the power of those cars. Now with the technology we have and the effeciency of fuel injection, we can see the same horsepower with better emissions on todays cars.
Hey Rhino, I agree with you, those muscle cars of yesteryear were a real thrill to drive. I owned and raced a 1970 Buick Grand Sport with the 455 Stage 1 package. I ran neck to neck with those 454 Chevelles and they really hauled a$$. I sold it when the gas crisis came along and wish I kept it. That's OK 'cause now I've got a fast and clean burning 2000 L that makes my 'ol Buick seem kind of slow. As far as how many stock L's there are out there, I only can say that being stock is OK if that's what you want, but I've always modded whatever fast ride I've owned. I guess I'm just a speed junky, John H.

Untouched

Heck, I'm such a prude, it hasn't been over 2500 RPM's, yet. Just turned 100 miles, though. Prude, prude, prude. Yeah, baby. Can you feel that???

Virgin here!

2001 Bone stock. The only thing that isn't original is the oil and filter. Never in rain, stored winters.

Pulled the chip about 18 months ago, so it's bone stock except for the Truck-Traks.

2000 with 15K miles.
