No mods to the Toy for a long time, just had LASIK

My neighbor did it last month and I want to do it so dang bad, call me a wimp but I just cringe at the thought of a laser pointing in my eyes and re-shaping things, I gave my eye doc a real hard time after he took me and showed me the thing, I noticed right there in BIG RED LETTERS on the side of the thing, WARNING! DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY INTO LASER." I said DOC! You wanna explain that too me? Rolling my eyes and shrugging my shoulders. He looked at me and said, " DAMN! I neer saw that on there before!" Now don't get me wrong, I was just making the best of a situation that presented itself, and being the joker that everyone knows me for I could not pass on that decal being there!
I know that I will eventually take the plunge since my eyesight only getts worse every year or so anyway. Some of you wanna send a real pretty nurse to hold my hand?

I had it done about 1 1/2 years ago. I had to go back for a touch up on both eyes, but it was well worth it. I was pretty near sighted with about 4 diopters of astigmatism in each eye. I wound up with 20/15 in one eye and 20/20 in the other. I need to use reading glasses for the fine print, but thats an age factor thing. My wife had it done about 2 months ago, and was 20/20 right out of the box. The halo thing at night is the last to go, takes a while. Had to wear glasses for about 40 years, modern tech....ain't it great! Best bang for the buck mod so far!

Thanx to all for the support guys, I can already tell that this is the best thing I've spent my money on in a long time. After my 3 hour exam before my surgery I looked at my chart and my right eye was 20/63 with a slight astygmatism and my left was 20/48 with a little more astygmatism than the right. After the surgery the worst pain I had was a burning that felt like I had gotten shampoo in my eyes on the trip home, but I took 2 Aleve and fell asleep for 8 hours in my nice dark bedroom and when I woke up there was no pain at all. At my day after surgery exam my combined vision was 20/16 by reading the chart on the wall, no fancy machine reading individual eye levels yet. Driving last night I had the halo thing but it is going to be well worth putting up with for awhile since I can see girls like the one's in that Hooters picture a lot more clearly now from a distance . I would recommend this procedure to anyone, but just keep in mind my last statement in my first post.
Hope to see all, even better then I would have ,at the WFC in the STL,

I plan on doing this "mod" very soon... I even think my health insurance will cover some of it now.
I have worn glasses since the 4th grade - I don't even know what it would be like not to have to wear them anymore. I do worry about things being done to my eyes though. I always cringe when I see videos of the surgery being done.
Does anyone here happen to have "eye floaters" by any chance?

I had mine done a couple of years ago. I think it is a good idea to try and find a good doctor, but a lot of times that doesn't mean expensive. I think I paid around $1600. The doctor who did mine had done thousands of surgeries and I feel he did a good job. I do have to use eye drops now where I didn't before the surgery, but I would do it again. I wore glasses for over 20 years and it is awesome waking up and seeing what is going on w/o hunting for glasses. When I used to play with my daughter she would grab at my glasses and try to bend them, not anymore.

I had PRK done (another method, besides LASIK) about 4 years ago. Cost me $5000...best thing I ever did.
My diopter measurements pre-surgery were -7.5L, -8.0R ... I was pretty blind without my glasses.

That's interesting. My eye doc told me I needed radial keratotomy (sp?) too because I am -7.0, -6.5 and he said it would be more effective that Lasik Only thing is now it seems like eveyone does Lasik and there aren't as many PRK doc's

Yeah, I was lucky in that my eye Dr was a specialist in PRK, Lasik and the like. (one reason he was pricey) Between the bad vision and an irregularity in the surface thickness of one of my corneas, Lasik wasn't the best choice.
It was really something going from being able to clearly see about 3 inches, to being able to read the alarm clock when I wake up.
For those who don't know the difference, primarily, rather then "cutting a flap" and being able to get both eyes done in one sitting with short heal time, they scrape off the surface of the cornea, shape it, and then it heals/regrows. You get one eye done at a time, usually with 3 weeks or so inbetween, and it takes about one week for vision in the operated eye to settle back.

Day two after surgery and everything still rocks , I just have to use the hell out of some eye drops now, 4 times a day for seven days two types of medicated drops and lubricant drops if I feel dry. My doctor has done in the past and still does PRK, LASEK, and LASIK along with other things for cataracts. He has just broken the 13,000+ LASIK patient mark and he fixes the botched surgeries from other doctors IF HE CAN, I got this from a source not affiliated with him. I am not trying to make this forum about something other than f150's but I am getting kind of tired of reading about new info on the srt10, mustang cobra, and tuner wars on my blower is better than your blower, and Dynatech making headers for so and so, etc . I just hoped I could enlighten some people on something that I had done that has changed my life for the better in so many ways that 1000hp in my truck would not even come close .
Thanx for all the support and stories and if anybody wants to know anything you are more than welcome to email me,
