Please update on JDM interchangeable pulley probs

Am interested in getting one of his "caged" interchangeable. Read on this forum a few month back there were some problems? Not trying to start flame/tuner war, just want good info from people who have bought/used in last few months. Definitely wanted caged version so it looks like stock when in for service. Don't tell me to take it off because my mechanical aptitude is non existent! Thanks for any info.

Thumbs up

There is nothing wrong with the new updated style. The dealer service tech is still gonna know it is there by the color and look of the pulley though. -Mat-

ProblemInfected might give ya an arguement on that one ...

Because even the stock caged pullies become hopelessly
stuck, I prefer the three bolt non-caged type ...
You're right about the color and the difference between
stock and JDM ... Any moron would be able to tell you have
modded the truck.

I believe he had the old style. I had the old style and had a problem too. I have no problem saying the old style sucked! But the new ones are much better. -Mat-

Thanks for responses guys SVT F150

You have the "latest version" of JDM interchangeable pully? If so, when did you buy it? How many times have you removed/changed pulley since you bought it? If service tech notices in "Mod friendly" dealer, good chance He'd ignore it. I'm probably the moron, so I think I'll do some checking with Serv. Mgr. before I do it.

I bought it several months ago. It has been off a few times while doing misc. crap under the hood. You can just tell when you have the socket on the bolt it is a good setup. Nice and tight feel. -Mat-

I guess I am just a moron then huh>??? Ever think maybe the installer stripped it>??? I don't know. I was just giving my opinion. I am sure there has been a problem with the cageless style. It's just has to be bad cause JDM sells it I guess. -Mat-

I just read that thread on his bad luck. If I am not mistaken the updated pulley takes a 3/4" socket. That socket fits perfect not 19mm. -Mat-

Mat, I was offering suggestions based on what has been
happening with the caged pullies. It would make no difference
if it was JDM or some other manufacturer. As I stated in PI's
thread, the problem does exist, and it might be related to
the hardness of the two parts.

If you want to just jump in and defend JDM, that's fine to, just
recognise that not everyone has great experiences with any
particular vendor, and there isn't much reason to attack someone
based on who their vendor of choice is.

Now back to regularly scheduled programming.

Will the real moron please stand up

aaahhhh, I'm trying to. It is my understanding problems only true on earlier versions of interchangeable caged pullies (many threads on this) ? Corrected on those manufactured/sold last 3-4 months? Thanks for any clarification. No flames or tuner wars intended.

Just FYI, 3/4" and 19mm are the same.

Good morning Sal1 tried calling & emailing

you without response. Since you're going to SDR in a few weeks, are you bringing any products/specials? how about installation of products purchased from you? Hoping for a response this time! Thanks!

We should be bringing some stuff, not sure exactly what yet, depends on what's in stock when it's time to go. If you want to preorder something, we can bring it down with us for you to pick up in person if you like.

Sal, hot damn, I actually got you.

What about install issues? Right now, I'm thinking Fast Air. It does have enclosed/partially enclosed box so hot engine air not creeping into filter? Want to get 90mm to go with it, but think I should throw my apparently mod friendly dealer some bones, and buy that from him. Also want FTVB, but again buy pan, filter and install from dealer. I can use 90mm & Fast Air without chip can't I---safely that is?
