blower idler pulleys

i just took my idler pulleys off to repack with grease, they didnt spin freely at all when i took them off. when I cleaned out the old grease, they spun what seemed llike forever(with no grease) but when i repacked with syn. grease and put seals back on the grease actually seemed to restrict the spinning? they spin better than stock but not as well as they did with no grease? anyone who has repacked how freely do yours spin after repack.

is it possible to put to much grease in the bearings? maybe i packed to much in there?

That's perfectly normal. Grease will have a high enough viscosity to impede movement at slow speeds. At slow speeds with no grease(and no load either), the pulley/bearing should spin freely. Put a load on it and spin it up(?) and you'd better have grease in there.

I did mine last week... and it came out the same exact way you described (which is normal).

How did you remove the seals? I removed a pulley last week and it looked like a sealed Timkin bearing to me. Help please.

i used a sharp pick and popped it up. there wasnt much grease in there, cleaned it all out and then packed in with new grease, it almost felt like there was sand or metal shavings in the stock grease, it feels alot smoother now, my truck only has 3700 miles on it, they used to squeel alot and now seem quieter

Mine did that when I changed them. It caused no problems so far, but I've only cleaned and repacked them 2x.
