From what I have heard they idle pritty good, they are a little loppy, but the ones I have heard idle pritty good. I will let you know how the set I am getting idle. Jim had a special set done for me, they should even idle a little better then the other ones.

Send me a e-mail next week, or keep a eye on the boards I will tell you how my set runs.

What exactly did Ford change from 02 to 03 on the block?
They increased the thickness of the material to keep the cylinders from distorting. There's a lot more webbing. They also increased the thickness of the deck so that the head gasket surface will not warp under heavy clamp mode. I am very impressed with these blocks.

All that I can say is Hell Yea! I am waiting to see how much the stock 03 Lightning short block can handle. I am beginning to see a 6lb pully, chip, and filter in my future. Jim, I know that you are testing your built 03 short block, but do you have any opinions on how much boost the stock 03 short block can handle. I would like to go fast while I am saving for a built short block.

To be quite honest with you the new 03 blocks are kick ***, they did change the material in the rods for 03, I don't know if it's for the better or worse yet. They are saying it's for the better. As far as 6 Lb. pulley and chip, we've done quite a few of them so far. In fact we have a black 03 that just went 12.21 at 110.

You will definitely hear the cams in the exhaust. As far as idle quality goes, wihtout a doubt it's an everyday driver. Idle is smooth around 700 RPM's but they will know you have cams. I'll try to post a video tomorrow of the truck running with the cams.

Jim I swear I was not trying to be a smart *** with the CNC remark!

I'm very happy about this better block. I never had any problems with the 99 but was a little tenative about modding the 03. Thanks for the info

it's nice to know the 03's are improved, better block, better rods, more threads. what sucks is that I have a 02, I'm not as concerned about the rods as I am with the plugs. concerned as in terrified everytime I drive my truck. I swear I hear new ticking noises everyday.

Jim, how much is a full engine package going for? 03 block, good rods, pistons, heads? do you have a exchange program for my messed 02 heads where i would get some credit for them? hopefully my motor will be fine but in the even the plugs fly out or the rods go i doubt ill mess with warranty.
