10's are possible with the stock blower, no nitrous!

We had a test session yesterday at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park to build a race program for our built motors. We've been working hard on our motor program. We've been using the 03 Lightning blocks which are a lot beefier. Ford hit a home run with these blocks. These things are strong! We have no piston noise which when you go to a forged piston you will get a piston rattle especially when the motor is cold. With our newly designed piston we have eliminated that completely. Our engines are as quiet as stock. We spent a lot of time on our CNC ported heads and cam profile and it's all payed off. So far we have four customers running 11.20's and 11.30's with the stock blower and this only because most tracks are not open yet. We have 43 of these built motors out there.

Paul G. - 11.30's
Dave L. - 11.30's
Mike M. - 11.27's
Kevin W.- 11.23

(All these truck weigh in at 4600 pounds.)

Kevin W. has let us use his truck for testing to help all our other built motor customers. Kevin's truck puts 553 hosepower and 683 lbs-ft torque to the rear wheels. It makes horsepower to 5800 RPM's. We are only going through the traps at just over 5000 RPM's. So now we have decided to put 4:10 gears in his truck. As well as one exhaust change and our new race program. With these changes I'm hopoing to see this weekend a 10.90 on the stock blower with no nitorus. There was a guy at the track yesterday that took a video, I will post it later of Kevin's 11.23 run.

I think you are right on. Charlie, CharlieL on the boards, ran an 11.5 with the stock blower last year with stock heads and cams. He is installing heads and cams now, but he now has the KB Blower...so we won't know what he would've run with the stock blower. I'm guessing very low 11's to high 10's w/ the Eaton...an easy few tenths w/ the new head and cam designs.

C&C ported heads?

Did you mean CNC (computer numeric controlled) ported heads or is C&C a brand name?

What exactly did Ford change from 02 to 03 on the block?

All that I can say is Hell Yea! I am waiting to see how much the stock 03 Lightning short block can handle. I am beginning to see a 6lb pully, chip, and filter in my future.

Jim, I know that you are testing your built 03 short block, but do you have any opinions on how much boost the stock 03 short block can handle. I would like to go fast while I am saving for a built short block.

wow Kevins truck sure got small fast

All I have to say is look out boys and girls, I am picking my truck up this weekend. I am getting a set of those new cams too. Mine will be just a little different, because mine is a daily driver and I wanted a smooth idle. So mine might be off a tenth, but I am throwing one of them bigger blowers on, so I am sure it will be a sick ****.
