Unhappy Who can diagnose my truck problem?

On the way to work today I was sitting at a light and my RPM's dropped to zero and the truck almost stalled. It has never done this and it was on my conservative driving program. Could this be from a lean condition? the truck has never done this before and hasn't done it since.

Kinda stumped as to what it is. Check the sig for my mods....

Thanks guys,

Griffin

It's your IAC valve. They get dirty/carboned-up and this allows too much air in when at idle rpm. Here is some more info:

Take it off and flush/soak it out with any solvent--reuse the old gasket. If cleaning it doesn't fix it then you'll have to replace it--about $50 at Ford.

most likely this is the issue, have 13K on my truck and its happened twice. Either that or its a simple issue such as a fuel filter etc,,, i doubt it though, most likely the iac valve.

If it only did it this one isolated time, I would let it go for now. It may have been a little bit of bad gas passing through. If it continues to happen again, then I would look at the fuel filter and/or the IAC valve.

Its the Idle Air Control Valve. Its what allows air into the intake when the throttle is closed so that the truck won't shut off due to air starvation. If its not operating properly it can cause the problem you have/had. If you search the forum you will find a thread on how to clean it.

Cool

I would say to make sure the chip is firm and DOES'NT move at all.
I had a similar problem once except it was happening everyday. It turned out to be a loose chip. Did'nt feel loose to me. But after I duct taped it is? All was better.
