Question Head Gasket ??

I will be taking my truck in for the leaking passenger side head gasket. Do they have to drain the oil when they replace the gasket ?. I put Royal Purple oil
in it, and will supply them the oil for the refill if they have to drain it.

FRITZ, Stock Silver 2001 "L" BaBolt's s/s tips.

I just had my driver's side replaced, and they drained the oil, radiator, and intercooler. Also expect it to take 3-5 days to complete! (at least we get a free loaner).

Also the must have refilled the oil with 8 quarts, because it completely covered the dipstick... I had to drain out at least a quart.

My feeling on this is to replace the head gaskets with,

Felpro head gaskets.

Part #s

FELPRO FEL1192L left side

FELPRO FEL1192R Right side

Just my two cents.

After looking at a set of head gaskets that let go in two or more places I think the stock head gasket will just leak in time.

The Fel-Pro head gaskets are the OEs in the box. Nothing better made, according to Fel-Pro.

You might check those #s.

3-5 days?!? Hah! Mine took 30 because of back-ordered parts.

I have an extra set of factory head gaskets and oil pan gasket that I bought with my employee discount. I have them for sell because I just bought a full complete set of gaskets for my engine overhaull.
The dealer would not let me buy everything except the head gaskets.

If anyone is interested e-mail me at gsuavy2002@yahoo.com

Tim,

Your right about the Felpros being OEM replacement. The #s are from Madmax. How about o-ringing the heads. Or the does Felpro or anyone else make a better gasket then the metal ones?

Damn Doug, how many times you going to replace that gasket without putting a "nice" set of heads and cams in that motor
