First road trip in the L!!!

I'm going on my first road trip in the L this weekend. Me and my girlfriend are going to Nashville this weekend to cheer on the University of Kentucky Wildcats as they kick off their run to the final four. Can't wait to get out on the road tomorrow morning. GO CATS!!

sbarkley,

I'm taking the '02 L's first road-trip tomorrow from Akron, OH to Green Castle, IN (350 miles) and next weekend from Akron, OH to Champaign, IL (430 miles).

I only have several hundred miles on the truck (working on my 3rd tank of gas).

This is going to hurt since I've been getting 10.8 mpg of mixed city/hwy driving!

Ouch!

I dont have very many miles on mine either. I think its on the third or fourth tank of gas (about 900 miles on the truck).

Yep!

I'm looking fwd to maybe soon taking a road-trip from IL to visit family back in OK.

What's good is that Missouri is relatively flat and good for WOT blasts! Yeehaw!

RQ BROWN--Im from Fulton Mo which is east of Columbia by 30 miles. The best place to do WOT's is about 50-70 miles east of KC, Its flat and theres not many cops. I go to school at CMSU which is in warrensburg by KC, and ive run 90 mph before for miles, and not a cop in sight.
but you never know, sometimes the only time you speed, you get a radar gun put on ya--i know from experience

Green98,

I'm going to be rolling through St Louis, Rolla and on through Joplin on the way to Tulsa, etc when I go. I forget the Interstate number.

I've got the Cobra 10-band radar/ 4 laser signal detector w/306 deg. sensing. It's pretty cool w/the voice alerts.

Ronald

PS: Happy speeding !

I just got home from a 300 mile trip in the pooring rain, It was a long ride, I am wiped out, but I had a smile on my face the whole time.

You will have a blast, there is nothing like the Lightning for a road trip.

Don,

One thing I've noticed is that the L rides a hulluva' lot rougher than my '00 Lariat over interstates (Akron to Cleveland, etc).

Not that I'm complaining. I fully expected it, but just a noteworthy point.

I have Chikenear's Bed-Rug in and the tonneau on it and "Suzy's" ready to RUN on over to IN.!

LOL
You think your L is rough you should take a ride in mine. I have stiff Hotchkis front springs, 2" rear shackles, and 4 QA1 shocks. It is quite a bit stiffer than the stock setup, but I love the ride.

I think I might have the record.

From Boston MA to Wichita KS.
1600 miles.

Non stop for 26-30hours.

then on way back the same. L held up real good even with stock plugs running 14lbs of boost

I had the pedal down for about 1 minute straight on open straight at 4am with a guy in a porsche. topped at somewhere at about 150-155 or so. I was topped out for maybe 1minute or more.

God bless it no plugs went flying

Well, I just got back from my ~350mi. road-trip to IN from OH and my @ss is beat!

First, I felt every bump along the way! The cab noise is so d@mn loud you have to crank the radio to hear the tunes/news and the gf and I have to almost shout to hear each other to be heard.

Second, gas mileage varied from 10.8 to a best of 15.4 mpg. It's only $$$$ !

Don't get me wrong! I love the truck and it won't quit pulling hard from almost any road-speed up to how-ever fast you want to go. (80-85mph and the g/f starts smacking me!) But, the S/C whine and exhaust rumble all make up for it!

Unoid,

I've heard that! I'm looking at getting one of Chikenear's air-intakes and opening up the air-intake part. Hell! Even gassing on it w/the stock air-box, she's a "screamer" from a stop-light and from legal road-speed to ???.
