Where to put bung for DYNO?

I'd like a recommendation on where to locate the 02 bung i need to get welded to my header's for DYNO'ing so i can get good A/F readings. I believe anywhere close to the front one will work? I was told you cannot just unplug the one we have and use it as it will cause a problem. Is this true? Any help appreciated.

you want to get it as close to where the gasses exit the combustion chamber as possible.

I found a good search thread on this but would still like to know if using the existing front 02 sensor is ok or not. And from what i saw using a sniffer (exhaust pipe sensor) gives readings relatively close to where a bung before the cat would so i may just go with it (not exact figures but close enought to ensure i'm not running lean.

no you do not want to remove the factory sensors. doing that will not give readings to the computer thus screw everything up.

John,

Check out this LINK. This is where I put mine last year. You can use the arrows on the bottom of the picture to page through the installation.

When I dyno'ed we removed one of the rear O2 sensors. At WOT the computer doesn't pay attention to the O2 sensors anyways.

Put in in the collector on the driver's side. It tends to run leaner than the other.

Are you asking for the stock exhaust, or for long tube headers?

For long tubes, with the headers installed and looking from the back of the truck, the stock O2 sensor is at 3:00 on the driver side, and 9:00 on the passenger side. Additional O2 bungs can be installed the same distance back in the collector, but at 7:30 on the driver side and 4:30 on the passenger side.
