Didnt know those were out...last I heard of them they were still a concept Oh well, has anyone raced one or been tempted by a SS owner?

BTW I dunno what's up with Chevy lately but they seem to be missin the boat on their performance market lately...besides the Z06...most of the cars they are bringing out are gettin stomped right outta the gate...maybe they lost their ***** the minute the camero/firebird got canned?

After reading through their forum... I am crying I am laughing so hard. How can you think these trucks are "sexy"? They are all a little frutie if you ask me. And I can't figure out is ol' mervz is a guy or a girl. He/she and that ugly *** truck make a great team.
Maybe its just a bad pic... nah...

Did we ever really figure out what....

those square hole dealy bobs are on each side of the front bumper? I remember reading something a while back that they were resonance doohickeys to make the truck "sound" fast.

No I won't waste the bandwidth going to the Chevy site.

I looked at them too when I was scanning over it in the parking lot. They looked completely unfunctional, but then again a lot of these types of things on cars and trucks are completely cosmetic.

I bet it won't launch a plug, or have cracked fog light lenses.

Chevy wants to think it's a big bad sport truck. The public wanted the SS. Chevy gave them a compromise. It's never going to compete with the Lightning. It's too heavy, AWD yada, yada...

I loved my Lightning well, except for the weak *** stereo, and ever cracking fogs.

I haven't seen one up close yet but I like it. $41K list is steap. The Harley-Davidson is $38K and change, add AWD and I think it'd be really close in price. The SS is new so demand is hi right now. Tell me you haven't seen Ford mark up Lightnings $5000 or HD's $10000. I've seen it and people have paid it. Still think the SS is expensive?

Face it, Chevy is engineered better. Open the hoods on a Ford and Chevy and tell me which looks cleaner/neater? Christ, it's a major chore just to change plugs on an L. What rocket scientist designed that? Why do you think Ford is finally redesigning their F-150 line? It's dated.

I enjoyed my L. It was a blast but I've gone back to the other side of the fence.

To each their own.....

I think it is a nice truck. Slow but nice. I would not go as far as to totally bombing the truck.

Many have called my truck and Lightnings in general GAY. For the simple fact that they can be more truck like. Cannot drive them in the snow/mud, towing and load weight is minimal, and well basically it is a pretty truck that can run really fast. Thats it.

I dont know, just my opinion.

Those SS's are nice.

But it will have piston slap and an oil consumption problem. This is no BMW we're talking about here.

Since I happen to have a Ford and a GM similar to the trucks being dicussed here I thought I would share my opinions of both. My GM is a 2001 GMC C3. This truck is virtually identical to an SS. Both have AWD, 6.0 engines, extended cabs and are 1/2 tons. My Ford is a 2002 Harley (SC Supercrew).
Those who have not driven both trucks may expect that they have similar performance-GM 325hp, Ford 340hp. Not a chance! The 6.0 is a high revving, no torque, shift down a gear if you want to go powerplant. The 5.4 on the other hand is a torque monster and feels like it could pull anything in high gear. I had a 2000 Z71 before the C3 and believe it or not, the 5.3 in the 2000 pulled much better than the 6.0. After much thought and discussion I finally had to pull the stock tall tires off the C3 and replace them with a set of Camaro tires (255-50x17). I needed this to get the revs up so this POS could pull my 2 place Skidoo trailer. I have never had a vehicle before with this much power that wouldn't pull anything??? Anyway, I like both trucks but they are way different. Mostly, I drive the GM in the winter and the Ford in the summer.
