What kind of tune do I ask for?

I hope a few people can give their opinions. I am going to send back my Diablo chip to Johnny Lightning today. Here is what I wrote up to send in with the chip. Does this make sense, or should I change things a bit? I guess my point is that I want more power and speed... and of course with that is the "you play sometimes you pay" philosophy, but I don't want to worry A LOT that the engine or tranny is going to detonate like a grenade on me every time I step on the gas! Also, FYI here are my mods:

Modifications:
1. Johnny Lightning Ram Air Intake Kit
2. Johnny Lightning Tuned Diablosport Chip
3. Amsoil 5w20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil
4. Accufab Single Blade Throttle Body
5. Boost Bypass Kit
6. PSP 4lb. Lower pulley
7. Denso Iridium Spark Plugs, IT22
8. JDM Silver Bullet Cat-Back Exhaust System
9. I only use 93 octane premium gas in the truck

Letter to JL:
I had you burn the chip for me last year when I purchased from you, for a drop-in K&N filter, Throttle body, Amsoil and JDM Exhaust. I really enjoyed the extra power, it does make a noticeable difference. But of course I would like more speed! So I upgraded the pulley, Spark plugs, air intake system and installed the boost bypass kit. I have not driven it of course with the new modifications, until I get the chip redone (Winter project!). I would like a tune that leans toward the safe side, while still taking advantage of the modifications and power. I have seen the term “safe street tune” used on the www.f150online.com message boards… I guess that is what I am asking for? I live in Wisconsin and plan on using the truck from April until November. So the temperature range will be from 40 degrees to 90 degrees. I would like the truck to safely be used within this range. I do not beat on the truck, actually I don’t go wide-open throttle too much on it. The key thing for me is safety and reliability of the truck and equipment… I don’t want to detonate the engine! Also I want to be safe on the transmission. The one thing I noticed about the current tune I have is that the truck shifts very “hard”, like “BAM!” sometimes… is this safe or should I ask to tone this down for reliability? I leave it up to you! Basically give me the most horsepower while being relatively safe on the truck. If you have any questions call me @ 262-893-9672. Thanks!

Hi Jeff,

You want your timing around 16 or 17 degrees, (some go 19)
Your A/F to be mid to hi 11's (some go 12's, I wouldn't)
Your Torque Reduction Turned off
Your Rev Limiter moved up (I like 5800 RPM)
Your Shift Points @ 5500 RPM
Maybe 200 MS Between shifting
AS for Transmission pressure, Johnny knows what to do
He also knows what to do with the Tip In
And all the other critical adjustments he makes.
93 Octane Pump Gas
Cold Weather Driving
If you do a lot of Long WOT Blast tell him

Other than that and him knowing you got a Filter+ Pulley
Your all set

Good Luck

Is it true the fuel shut off on our trucks is 5400 rpm? that's what my Lightning brochure says...

You've gotten great advice so far. Without a dyno tune though, just be sure to check for detonation when you get the chip. It's hard at WOT, but easy at tip in at about 65 in OD. This will make it "safer" to tell if the timing/ A/F combo is right for your truck. Good luck. These trucks each have their own personality when on the dyno. If you have access to one, even if you have to drive 5 hours, do it

Sorry, but this sounds like a good way to trash the trans. I'm sure FT could enlighten us somewhat, but if I remember right, the best thing to do is go with a FT valve body and leave the stock shift speeds and times (pressures) alone...

no more "BAM!"
