What's the differences between the 03 Lightning motor and the 03 Cobra motor?

Isn't the cobra motor a dual overhead cam and 32 valve? They both have Eaton blowers and put out about 8 pounds of boost. As far as rods and pistons are they the same? What motor can handle more horse? Why does the intake go towards the drivers side on the Lightning and towards the passanger side on the Cobra? What else is different between the 2 motors?

Cobra has forged internals. Cobra motor can also handle LOTS more power because of those forged internals. It is also a 4.6 and not a 5.4, but I'm sure you already new that.

They both have Eaton blowers, but that's where the similarity ends......

I'm almost positive the intake goes sideways for clearance.

I'm guessing the intakes on the two are different because the position of the batteries on the cars. All F150's have the battery on the passenger side and all Mustangs have the battery on the drivers side. They would have to redo the mounting for the battery most likely to get the mustang to have a drivers side intake. Plus Saleen and Roush prolly already had kit's to use that style intake. I don't think you can bolt on the cobra blower to our trucks because I've heard it's also "stalled" for use with the manual transmission. Hope that helps...

Oh and the heads on the cobra are supposed to have more agressive intake ramps similar to the Cobra R heads...whereas the lightning still has the older style PI heads. Besides the forged internals I think thats about it...atleast all I can think of right now.
