It had rusted wear they weld the two tips togather
what about using navel jelly rust remover? get rid of all the rust then paint the weld (silver or gray) with a fine brush. Only someone down on their hands and knees would ever that the weld line was painted.
i dont know alot about welding , what type of rod or process is used for welding s.s. and is the material that is added as rust resistant as say a 304 stainless steel.

rusty pipes
I have not noticed my tips rusting, but I have noticed a very considerable amount of rusting on the bent part of the pipes after the mufflers.
It is much much more than the stock pipes ,to the point where it is starting to flake off in chunks and it is only 6 months old. Are these pipes aluminized or anything? Can you get them made up in stainless??
Thanks,
Scott.

After 1.5 years with my Bassani it still looked like new............all the way back to the mid pipes, not just the tips.

The reason they rust is because they do not or maybe in the past they did not use Stainless Steel wire I bout a Silver bullet used and all welds were rust as well as the crappy 4 series stainles that is used on the 2.5" pipe. Maybe all has changed dont no, But from what I have seen They all will do this eventually!

Hey Rob try using some Blue Coral metal polish and a scotch pad. Thats what seems to work, might be because its more of a liquid and helps to desolve the carbon. I, have almost 55,000 mi. now and they don't look too bad. Don't worry about the coating all the sand on the expressway and all over blasts most off any way. By the way I, picked up a set of JDM cat back from a guy in Jersey he had them on for 2 month's and I, have them in the garage. But they are rusted in quite a few places most are surface but a few on the tips are deeper!! Artie
