I stopped by the SVT Dealer in Calgary, Alberta yesterday, they tell me the 04 Lightning is going to be the same body style as the 04 F-150's (probily true). The problem I' am haveing is they tell me that it is going to have the 390 Hp motor our Lightnings have in them now and it is only going to be for 04. I' am told that because, Ford needs time to perfect that 500 Hp motor. Can someone give me some insite on this or should I go in there next time with a wheelbarrow to help unload some B.S.

One of my Gen1 friends met another Gen1 guy here in town. He was all excited being that most Ls around here are of the Gen2 variety. He strikes up a conversation and finds out that the owner has the vehicle all stock, right down to the supercharger pulley!
Needless to say he walked away shaking his head in utter disappointment.

WRONG!!!! 99/00 WHERE BOTH 360! I got you now punk.
You guys know as well as I do that new body style L isn't going to be out until 2006 model year and I'll bet on that. Look at the 97 autoshow when they showed the gen 2, it didn't come out until 99 which is typical of SVT and with the market the way it is I doubt there concered with the SVT department. Just sit back and relax casue its going to be awhile.

Historically, Ford (and even GM) would not allow a body change on their truck/SUV line differ from one another for more than a year. You can bet on the body changeover in 04. But I really would not expect the 500 h.p. concept engine in it. Although I would definately expect a power increase...how much is still unknown . But you damn well know that Colletti will not give up the crown for "fastest production truck" to any one of the other truck manufacturers. And believe me there will be contenders.

Ford has stuck by their original plan from the beginning. The second generation "L"s were planned as a five year run.
The only change they made was to up the power after the second year was sold out, jumping from the original 360 to the present 380 for the last three years.
Not sure why anyone whould claim three different power outputs (340 - 360 - 380) none of the 99's and 00's were close to the 380 mark, and were not rated low from the factory for insurance reasons.
In fact, those of us who bought 99's were pleasently surprised to find that our agents considered the "L"s to be nothing more than an F-150, leaving us with very nice rates.........boy, did that change quick.................
