Nope. Not the sockets. But anything that you have to put your hands on while using is. Their ratchets and screwdrivers are well wotth it. I use Craftsman Torque wrenches tho. Of course there will be many opinions on this but mine is the only one that counts. Save money on the sockets but don't go el-cheap-o, get some craftsman sockets.

Talking on second thought.

Then again you might want to go as cheap as can on the socket. I just realized that you are talking about a sparkplug socket. From what I hear you will slam that thing down throw it against the wall and stomp on it in disgust. I thought I read where someone threw one quite some distance into a nearby trailerpark. So you might want to save a few dollars and get a really cheap one.

Ive got the socket and it was really nice. As far as a must have.....nah.....but you dont have to worry about the extension pulling out of a normal spark plug socket anymore.

I used a socket I bought at Discount Auto Parts, and it worked just fine. And im almost positive, it was more like 5-10$, and not 52$!

I think he meant the Snap-On one was $52 and I believe it. Everything off a Snap-On truck is extremely expensive, but they have thee best tools I'll say. As someone stated above, I use Snap-On ratchets and their screwdrivers cause they definitely are much better but everything else I use Craftsman, S+K, Mac, or Blackhawk. Snap-Ons ratchets and screwdrivers have a really nice handle, the ones I bought anyway, and its always the one you reach for, the other ones thrown in the drawer never get used. Now back to your question, if you plan on keeping the Lightning for a long time and you are always gonna be the one to do the spark plug change, then yes I think its worth it to buy. However, once you do it once or twice, you will get good at it and may not need such a fancy socket. If it was me, I'd buy it. I like to try and make the job go as smoothly as possible. Mike

I'd like to see a picture of this $52 socket, heh

We got a snap on air ratchet. It's sweet!

Do they make a tool for taking off fuel filters too?

I have one and love it.It is worth every penny.Try digging a reg lenght socket out of the back plug hole.then you will understand.Look at it this way what would it cost to have your plugs changed? After the second plug change you do you will of more than paid for the socket and some of your other tools too.Stan

I have no locking extensions, so half of the time I spent phucking with the socket stuck on the plug. I gotta go to Sears.
