Ummmmm, im confused, so we spent a few more grand for a better motor, are u telling me when mods come out for ure truck they are gonna be free? cause im sure ure gonna have to spend a lot more money to get the speed and handling that a lightning has, the reason we bag on hemi's is because they think they have the fastest trucks out there, ummm, not true. If u want a fair comparision u must compare stock vs. stock. cause there are guys on here running 10's in the 1/4 with their truck, the only way a hemi will run 10's is if u drop it out of a plane a 1/4 of a mile above the ground. BTW, Payload? we are talking sports trucks here not working trucks, if people with a lightning wanted a larger payload, they would have gotten a Heavy Duty Truck, ie F-250 F-350 Chevy or Dodge 2500-3500. If that srt-10 ever comes out, then u can talk smack cause thats probably gonna be faster than our stock Lightnings. have a good day.

Does this new engine have the distinctive "hemi" sound you remember?

Just curious, i have never seen nor heard a "real" hemi. I have always been told they have a very distinctive sound. This engine sounds like most modern v/8 engines to me.

Is it true, that most modern day engines, are basicly hemispherical head engines anyway ?
I remember my father telling me that too, that most engines these days have hemispherical heads.

Hemi goes 15.48

Mrbbqman, I did not claim to be a serious racer although I have built some SERIOUS trucks. 3 of my vehicles ( including my turbo F-150) have been featured on the TNN show "TRUCKS" . My Hemi truck was filmed for the show and should be on in about 4-6 weeks. I have had vehicles on the cover of Sport Truck, Truckin, Off-Road, and SEMA news. I will be glad to post picts of anything I have if someone can tell me how to do it. I also HAVE 13 second time slips to post, where are yours Neil? As far as the Toyota goes the T-100 came out in 94 how can that be copying a design that came out in mid 96? One last thing Mr. Suave your picts are simple Ford propoganda, like the TV comercial that shows the new 6.0 Diesel beating a Duramax.......... yeah right! A friend of mine applied for a 6.0 powered F-250 SEMA vehicle to compete against a similar prepared Cummins and Duramax for a Sport Truck magazine/ TNN Trucks show and was in so many words told Ford did not want to be included in a race they could not win. Once again I like Fords and Lightnings I also know when to call a spade a spade.

Thumbs up

sounds like you know what you are doing, thats the best time reduction i've seen from a 100shot on a 2-1/2ton truck in a very long time

MRBBQMAN,
Terry is a master of making nitrous work very well on a plain bolt on truck,i witnessed him run a 14.9 on motor in his project Dakota RT with a few bolt ons and he ran a 150 shot through it with slicks and ran a 12.43 at Byron at a Lightning gathering that is 2.5 seconds off just with a 150 shot which is even more impressive!

AHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!! Thats too freaking hilirious.

In any case, comparing the hemi to the lightning is stupid, lightning is gonna own it stock for stock. I think comparing it to the 5.4 F150 is the correct way to go. I dont know who wins in that case, but actually a better question is, who cares? The 5.4 F150 and the dodge hemi aren't race trucks, they're trucks. Trucks are really supposed to haul things and tow things and drive over crappy terrain, crap like that. Neither Dodge or Ford should really be adveritsing quarter mile times on these vehicles, its seems silly to me.

As for modded vehicles, thats just a money thing. You can take a civic and run it into the 8's for less than the total cost of lightning or hemi. In the end its still a civic.

My 99 Honda Prelude has a HEMI.......Does that mean I'm special? Or just plain stupid for putting 15 grand in a lost cause for power? Just because it has a hemi doesn't mean it's god....Wait I have a Hemi and Vtec...I own all of you!! hehe j/k
Who wants to trade my lude for their lightning?

Man, 25 thousand is still expensive. Even with all the mods in my truck, I don't even think it adds up to 25 thousand, yet I'll beat a hemi.

Where is your proof that the duramax can beat the 6.0?

I will never believe that until I see it. The 6.0 has more torque and hp.

You'll have no chance when the Kenne Bell supercharger comes out for the Hemi Ram, even a quad cab will smoke you. ! And it is by far a better looking truck.

Yea yea yea, a better looking truck. A friggin pig nose piece of crap is a better looking truck. OK! Lamer. Put a Kenne bell on a lightning which can actually handle that kind of power, and then talk. Fair is fair, buddy.
