4V Motors for Lightnings
#16
In responses to your requests!
The intake fabrication was only $1300.00 when it was all said and done.
I had it fabricated in Las Vegas, NV by a good engineering buddy of mine.
Since we've done all the leg work to make this happen we could duplicate this same set up for around $1,000 we will however need a donor 5.4 4V intake from a 2000-up Lincoln Navigator or Blackwood.
Most of you guys are located on either the east coast or the west coast so I've had to engineer to majority of my fabrications.
My 99 is not a daily driver but still retains A/C and could be driven a decent distance. I built it for a Street Strip nightmare.
You guys and gals can see my 99 in Topeka this fall when we all get together and run our SVT's Lightnings!
But until then unless you want to come to New Mexico and visit my shop then Pics are out of the question!
And to Rob_02Lightning
I own an environmental engineering and consulting business doing business strictly with oil & gas producers. This is what feeds my having a corral of Nice and Fast toys!
Not rich......just lots of Uncle Sam Free TOYS!
You guys are free to contact me anytime on how 2's with the 4V's

Ruslow...
Yep.....
I totaled a almost new F550, my other enclosed car trailer and the 99.
Took almost 6-months to get back to where I am at now.
Insurance could not put a price on the 99 since most of the swap was done by myself and I have no receipts to show! But the F550 became a F350 Lariet, the other trailer Huge trailer became a 48-foot enclosed with living quarters and the 99 became one hell of a beast.
Drivability is great......but I built this truck for the street/strip...not road trips...I have other toys for long distance travels.....and a trailer for even longer trips LOL
Peace!

i still don't see the point of the 4v heads on a lightning,
because of the long stroke you can't rev em to the moon like the cobra's, it's been proven on mustangs that 2v and 4v motors equally built with equal hp, the 2v makes more torque
don't get me wrong, i loved shifting my cobra at 7650 rpms, but i just can't see a lightning revving that high

There are people with 2V heads making those times. Why should someone pay the big $$$ to get a 4valve setup if it doesn't perform noticeably better? Didn't JL run 1/2 second quicker last year than what you have listed with a KB, stock cams and 2V? It is nice that you guys are doing cool things like this, but is the pay off worth it? I mean why not just stick a built V-10 in the truck with a D1SC?

Easter: Maybe he was running at high altitude with high humidity and high heat and crappy traction? Who knows?
you can do a bench racing comparison with NHRA corrected numbers, but the only true comparison would be running them side by side.
Edit: Crack at Easter removed, don't want this thread to go the same way as the REM exhaust thread did.

You can easily make 650 hp with just a 4.6 and a centrifugal.
Step up to a 5.4 and your easily talking 425 at the wheels with just motor. Add the blower on top of that and 750 is realistic.
03 Cobra motors are making over 600 with a kb.
However..
If your 5.4 dohc to eaton intake isnt properly engineered, its going to flow like *** and affect your hp.
also keep in mind, tuning with a Ford computer with a 5.4 dohc isnt going to be easy. Time to go DFI or FAST for tuning purposes.
Its easy to go from 360hp to 500.. However, each 100 hp after that becomes difficult without squeezing or serious $$.
