Question single blade throttle body...is it worth it?

Hello all!

I have a relatively stock 02 L (cold air kit, boost by-pass mod, Bassani cat-back) and was considering adding a single blade throttle body. I have read that it is worth 10 to the wheels...anyone have any experience with it??

I know it would be cheaper to just add a new blower pulley to gain some HP but I drive this truck everyday and it tows my 4,000lbs detail trailer 6 days a week...so I don't know if more boost is the way to go.

Your thoughts/experience on this is greatly appreciated!!

Mike

Made no difference in my quarter mile times. Though you can feel a little faster response when driving normal.

Cool

No improvement in peak HP on a stock truck.

And If I were you towing, I'd go the 2# pulley w/tuned chip route.

Ok.......You might want to do a search.

But, the best mods to do first are a chip, pulley and cone filter.

The Single Blade Trottle Body is a mod that will help you later down the road when you get a little more extreme with things.

So, where you are at with mods, I would wait on it and get something else.....Electric fan? Traction Bars? Slicks? Larger Pulley?

These are just my ideas, hope this helps!!!!

A TB really won't add HP, just improve throttle response. I had one and it was worth every penny, IMHO, but I already had quite a few mods and was just looking to increase the fun factor of the truck.

Just port and polish you stock unit; that's what I did. Only cost you some time and the bits if you don't already have them.

I got mine used at half the price, and it has worked out wonderfully. By the way, that was the only way I would have purchased one.

I bought an Accufab used for half price and it didnt change a thing. It is a nice piece but I saw no better throttle response or performance. Dont waste your money.

I bought mine used for a great price as well. I don't think it was really worth it either.

I might even try to sell mine soon. There are plenty of other mods that would be a better choice.

Thumbs up

Thanks for all the great input folks!! I guess I'll divert funds elsewhere!!

My main concern is the fact that my L spends 75% of its time with a trailer hooked up to her....so I need to make tow friendly mods. I would love to have a nice 4# pulley, a radical computer tune and some long tubes but it is not practical for me.

This is a great site...thanks for helping a newbie out!!!

Mike
