Revisit: Time to stand up for the lightning BRothern..

yeah, i was going to an ls1 dyno day in Rowlett, and a guy has been saying that lightnings are not fast etc and that he wants to race me in the thread i posted earlier. Gotta put my money where my mouth is. It's a z28. He has a picture of his car with a license plate bracket that says he ran the 1/4 @ 13.7 @ 109mph. BUT he says he raced an 03 cobra and put 5-6 lengths on him. Maybe he's on the bottle now? I'm trying to get him to race from a punch. http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread...60#post3060560

I need a chip reburn, cause i'm going to try and get an upper before the 31st (day of the event). Is it possible? Any tips. I don't have any weight in the back of my truck. I spin bad from a stop.:

Traction!!!

Sounds like you need some meats in back to put that power to the ground! I have the same prob, bought some 305 Nitto DR's. Haven't tried them yet, but gotta be better than my balding F-1's.

I have traction bars, and yeah i have f1's. Actually heard the BFGoods make a better DR and tire, but haven't checked out sizes. I took my spare and assembly off, no hitch. so, i'm pretty light in the back. he agreed to race from a punch though. But with this weather...i might still spin.

You must heat your tires up for about 30 second and leave it in drive when you do it.. With your mods and if hes stock he won't have a chance, no way... Just heat emmm up so you can get some traction or you will go up in smoke with the power your making .............

If not anything else, lower your rear tire air pressure to @25 lbs max, Don't sweat it, your gonna whoop is a$$,
unless he did something big you don't know about
(you mentioned juice) ???

Don't let that Cobra beating story scare you. THATS B/S,

He's a lot quicker than 13.7. In race trim, he's gone as quick as 11.9(no juice). Probably a mid 12 sec daily driver. Only reason I know this is because I've been on dfwstangs for over 2 years...so has he.

Ahh, so the story changes
Big differance from 13.7's to 11.9's
Obviously this guys has major work,
they surly don't run like that off the showroom floor

Nate
What did you get yourself into
That Z's gonna whoop yo a$$ now

J/K Pal, You just need some ammo before racing that one,
Sounds like it's time to borrow someones KB.
Either that or borrow an 8lb lower for the night

GOOD LUCK

Didn't DavidZ28 used to post on here back in the day? I'm talking a year or two ago.

I was at the BFGoodrich tent this weekend (at WFC) and was told they only have them in 295/35/18....

nate, when you race i wanna watch!

i hate it when people lie about their car, mods, and ets. its so juvenile. whats the glory in winning against another car if you are way faster than they, especially if they dont know. but they real question is, how much money has he spent to get his car as fast as it is compared to yours. lightnings are cheap to get well into the 12's.

I really don't remember what he had, but I don't think it was all that major. Just a couple of bolt ons and it was dialed in perfectly. Besides, the 11.9 came at Hallsville, which is known as a downhill track!!

Yes, you really showed me. And when did I say Lightnings were slow?

Or you could just ask Marc if it's BS.

What's the point of telling every what you run so that every internet warrior a couple of tenths faster can smack you around?

NateTrun2 wanted to race me for a easy kill when he thought I ran mid 13s, perhaps you should ask him that question.

I'll answer that question. To run a 12.6 @ 112, I bought a lid, off road pipe, cutout for a total cost under $500. To go 12.3 @ 114, I bought a set of headers for another $250. To go 11s @ 117, I bought a cam for another $800. The cheaper route would have been to just get a bottle, but I wanted a fast NA car, not a bottle baby. How much does it cost to get a L into the 12s, 11s without a bottle?

Once again, I never said Lightnings are slow. I know of atleast 5 guys that own them. So, I'm fully aware of thier performance. Just look at my mph and you'll see why I haven't lost to one, yet.

P.S. Marc sucks!
