Brembo Front Brakes ?

OK.... I am ready to commit ... Do any of the
supporting vendors sell these? I believe that
you have to be a distributor for them, but not
sure. I want the best price (of course), so if you
know where that is, email me please

TIA ...

Cliff

The AP Racing kit from Stillen is a better value than the Brembo kit, and you may want to even check out the Wilwood based kit from TCE.

And that is exactly the reason why they charge more. No one's saying that they're not great brakes. But, if you could get something every bit as good, (or better), for less, why wouldn't you?

Take, for instance, the AP Racing kit. 6-Piston calipers, vs the 4-piston Brembo. Not saying that it automatically makes for a better brake, but the AP's are NOT lacking in quality.

My $.02

Stop-Tech has been great for me. Check my gallery for photos. More than $1000 less than Brembo. Stop-Tech uses 4/ea 44mm pistons, Brembo uses 2/ea 44mm & 2/ea 42mm. Brembo pads $200 +++, Stop-Tech uses Porsche Twin-Turbo pads $90. Same rotors, hats, and hubs. Both bolt-on complete kits.

What do you run Stan? Your own rotors? Whose calipers?

I had hawk pads on my brembos and they worked great. The hawk pads were only $120 or something and I'm sure you could get them cheaper if you shopped around.
I paid $2K for my used brembos from Azeem about a year and one half ago and used them for about 5K miles.

I can get pads for $115, so $200+ is not quite right.

SVT_KY -- Easter has a used set for sale.

The "nicest" thing about the brembos is it is a complete kit from all one manufacturer's parts. There are other great kits out there that cost less, yes, and they are assemblies of different pieces that fit together and work great. From what I have seen, Brembo was the only kit that was top-to-bottom from Brembo...the stop-tech, TCE and Stillen kits all put parts together...nothing wrong with it... "shopping around" is definately one way to save money.

The price on a used set of brembos makes it negligable.

Thanks for all the comments ...

At least part of the decision is being able to
sit in the pits next to the Porsches, and have
those BIG RED BREMBOS show through (HEH HEH HEH)

I will Email ya Easter ...

Jump on easter's setup. Which ever you choose will be a huge improvement over the stock setup. My only gripe at all is that they do sqeal at low speed (traffic) stops. I believe it's a combination of pad compound and road grime/pad dust in the cross drilled holes. Very minor complaint. Well worth it any way you do it.
