Don... How is it, on the street??

hahaha, well, he took , or was planning on taking his 8lb lower off and put the 6lb back on, and use the upper pullies for changing the boost between the street and track.......was getting a little squirrely i guess.....hehe.

Funny thing is when he called me today , he said oh, i'm only getting 620hp..............he had me for a minute. I was thinking to myself.....only 620 huh Knowing the way Don is.....620 isn't good enough.....more power!!!!!

Don, I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Are you boosting 15#'s with an 8 lb lower as stated above by tallimeca? If not, what size pulley are you using? In an earlier post you said, "8# lower and 3 inch upper 18lbs of boost ..... 8# lower and 2.75 upper whole lot of boost, lol".

Are you saying you produced 620HP with only 15#'s of boost? What sort of heads are you running? I assume this is all motor? Is it possible to post the dyno? All this is very interesting to me. Those are some killer numbers. Congrats.

Hi Don
Those are great numbers and it sounds like there is a lot left in it.

I have some questions too. How much octane does it take to keep the truck happy at those numbers ??

And second, could you tell us what it is like to drive it on the street at that power level LOL ??

And I think somebody aready asked this but are you still runnin stock ruel rails and injectors ?

Last....are you guys maxing out the MAF and if so have you found away around it ??

Thanks Dale

Hi All

I just got home
I am getting 15.5 lbs of boost with a 8# lower and a 3inch upper. I have a 2.75 upper, but we didn't try it this time. I have a set of ported 2Valve heads with bigger valves and Crower cams.

We still have a few air fuel issues to work out. It is still going a little lean above 4500 rpms. I left the truck there and Jim is going to work on the tuning between now and wednesday when I will be picking it up. I hope the weather is good this wednesday, if it is we will be running it at Englishtown.

The final numbers today were 630rwhp and 727rwtq we never did bump the timing up. Once Jim gets the air flow ratios figured out we will se just how far it can go. From what I saw today it looks like there is still a little HP and Torque to be had.

I also got the rear brakes modified so I can now run the 30x10.5-15" slicks. So traction shouldn't be a problem. As far as how it drives on the street, I love it. As long as you are not to crazy when you launch the truck, it drives allmost like it did last year. The only thing to be carefull of, is the speed in which the KB spools up. It cought me off guard the first day, but I am now used to the way it reacts.

Thanks for all the kind words, I appreciate it.

Don thank you for the answers. Why the drop in boost from your previous posts? 15# seems awful low for 8# lower and 3" upper. Is your gauge accurate or any explanation, as this seems much lower than anyone else with similar pulleys. Is it possible for you to post the dyno? Thanks again for your help.

Don great numbers but still no dyno sheets?
Why do dynos out of JDM never get posted? Never any problem scanning and posting Hooter girls, but never a dyno. Were you on the bottle seems like high numbers for such low boost?

I see 19psi with a 10lb lower and 3" upper w/ my new heads. I saw about 22-23psi before the new heads. Don's numbers seem about right to me.

It is the crappy slipping pulleys KB uses, they just dont grab well.
