Dons Bolt enters the 600/700 club on only 15 lbs. of boost ....DAMN!!!

I'm guessing Don has some great flowing heads. My heads aren't ported that great. I'm seeing 15psi with a 6lb lower and 3.5" upper with my KB...that is about a 2.54:1 blower ratio.
Don what does your lower 8lb pulley measure? If it measures 9.16 you have a 3.05:1 blower ratio.
What do you have for fuel system?
edit I made some math errors
I'm spinning my blower at around 13,208 rpm at 5200 engine rpm. You are spinning your blower at around 15860 rpm at 5200 engine rpm and getting your peak HP...And we both have the same amount of boost 15psi. How much more air does that 2500K rpm put into the engine?

First off great numbers!!
For those who think 15 psi is low for his pulley combo you need to remember he has ported heads and different camshafts. That can greatly reduce the amount of boost that would have been present before. The engine is more effecient now and has less restriction than it would being stock.
Good Luck on some more ponies!!!!
Thanks Mike

I think Steve (Calightin) is a bit curious of the boost because he has a similar combo, and sees totally different boost levels. He's got ported heads, cams, and the Works 140, and he's made 18 psi with a 3" upper and just a 2lb lower. The Whipple is a tad larger, but not a huge amount (140 ci vs 134 ci) and both blowers are the same screw design, so you'd think the boost numbers would be very close to the same.
BTW, I am NOT trying to start another Works vs KB debate here, I am just curious as well, because both units are similar size and displacement, so I'm a bit baffled at the boost difference as well.

Sal I would have to agree that you would think the boost level would still be higher. It could be belt slippage or the camshafts the two trucks have could be different. The Kenne Bell has a low maximum rpm rating so volume could be problem also??
Oh well good numbers again and don't let anyone rain on your parade!!
Thanks Mike

We were getting major belt slippage yesterday, the KB pulleys are pure gunk. If you look at the pulley the raised part of the groves are narower and the edges are not squared off like a stock pulley. They are actually allmost pointed on the edge, when we ran it at the track and put vht on the belt we got 18# of boost. So that shows how much it slipps when the belt wasn't treated.
Here is a pic of the pulley

Im still having a hard time understanding everything maybe im a little slow.. So your saying you made that amount of power with a slipping belt? and it is supposed to be 18psi but u only showed 15psi? sorry if you feel like im beating a dead horse just when high numbers like this come how I just want to know how?
