Maybe his lower end is gettin a little tight as it gets ready to let go ?

Seriously......10 extra psi. outta the stock Eaton builds alot of heat into that charged air............that, and it's possibly harder to get it hooked up (as in puttin it to the ground). Maybe his tune is not optimum for that boost on the street, and the gas that he may be burning???

Or........maybe what Spanky said??? LOL

Im sure that 10#er looked like a steering wheel. Figure the heat dumping into the intercooler with just a 6# is over 135F.. i could only imagine the heat skyrocketing to damn near 200F because of the RPMs that Eaton is spinning out of spec.

Anything more then 6# is just a waste.

I'd be willing to bet the temps are way over 135°F going into the intercooler. I have a KB and running 15psi. This morning at 45° intake air temps at the filter, the temp is 130°F going into the intercooler at around 2500/3000rpm. When I stomped on it a few times the temps got up near 200°. With 20psi the temps get up to 300°F+. I would guess a 10lb lower would get you 300°F temps dumping into the intercooler with the eaton. At the track it may be okay to use with a power cooler, but on the street that is just crazy.

I'm with **** and Easterisland

Over-spinning and over-heating the S/C kills ET in a L.

And just for the record, still to date my best Nitrous and NON Nitrous Runs were done with 4lbs of Pulley and not 6lbs.
Heat clearly plays a part in that. Guys like me that don't allow a proper cool down will end up usually going slower when running too much boost, especially because I DO NOT HAVE an Electric Fan, Cobra Pump, or even a Low Temp Thermostat.

But Run into him on a Cold Morning, and WATCH OUT

Those fans will have no effect upon the heat "dumping" into the intercooler. They may help at the track or in stock and go trafic to cool the fluid quicker. How much of an intake temperature drop do you see with those fans?
I have a JDM heat exchanger, stock heat exchanger in front of the radiator and also the fluid goes through the heater core. I have also replaced the hard metal lines which soak up the heat near the blower with heater hose. i am still getting the temps I listed in the post above...

So for you aftermarket blower guys, what is the stock intercooler's limit and what are your options after you've maxed out its cooling capabilities? I'm asking this because I know even after the Fluidyne and SPAL fans, e-fan, e-pump, and Supercooler some are seeing pretty high temps in the intercooler! Any way to change to a front-mount design?

I was thinking about doing a D1SC with air to air intercooler, but I'd have to switch out all of the intake stuff and all kinds of stuff.

The only thing I can think of is a more efficient intercooler. One where the water would come in on one side and exit on the other. The current intercooler comes in passes through one half of the exchanger then passes back then exits on the same side it came in. Maybe you could isolate the intercooler from the engine heat and blower with phenolic spacers, but there isn't any room.

I know for a fact that spearco has completed the prototype intercooler that drops into the intake. It was developed on a Lightning out here and we were shown it at a Dyno day.

You might want to contact Spearco to find the release date of the said item
