now does it matter which way you put in the shackle ie i have the solid middle part facing the back now and the way this guy above installed it flat solid part is facing the front..

 

Mine are facing the opposite direction from Harley's in the pics that he posted. The Belltech and DJM instruction guides also show them in the opposite direction. I do not have any idea if it really makes a difference or not. Maybe one of the tuners can chime in.
