Don't buy any mods from them. They are trying to rip you off.

The base package you just listed should cost you no more than 1200 USD. And what exactly do they mean by "intake."

To get a better idea of the prices for those mods, hit up some of the supporting vendors from here, and over on www.NLOC.net.

Here are just some:

www.lightningparts.com
www.teamjdm.com
www.johnnylightningperf.com
www.lightningforceperformance.com
www.blueovalperformance.com
www.razorsedgemotorsports.com

Also, Bassani shorty headers don't net you any power improvements. You would be better going with Longtubes from either Kooks or Dynatech.

WOW!!!! Let me make sure I understood your post correctly! You are saying the dealer that sold you your L is offering the upgrades that you have listed in your post? Was Ford still going to honor the warranty with the mods installed? Who was the dealer if you dont mind me asking?

Hey congrats to you on your new L and welcome to the Lightning world!

brown bro's in Vancouver

ford would honor the warranty as long as the mods didn't cause the damage. they told me that their owner Tim Brown has years of racing expeirance and drive's a cobra R. the svt mechanic says that this performance pakage is safe. if any problems did happen they would pull the motor and inspect it and i would be able to bring a mechanic of my choice also.

Hey congrats to you on your new L and welcome to the Lightning world!
thanks

My local SVT dealership promises to honor the warranty as long as they install the mods. They even have files for Superchips and they offer to install pulleys, suspension, etc. etc. They also sell parts for JDM I believe.

It's not uncommon....look at Anderson Ford and a couple of other large dealerships....

the dealership here has done 100 cobra's ,25 lightnings and 100 harley's in the last few years.

they would prefer to reccomend and do the install so no one has to get into a warrenty hassle.

the svt mechanic says there are to many people out there that want to do their own installs and don't have the expeirence to do so.

he had explained that a couple of lightnings(2001-2002) had done some upgrades and ran into the sparkplug problem,
those that had the upgades done by the dealership were covered and the backyard mechinic's pretty well sucked wind.

my question to you experince people out there is that if i go ahead with the upgrades what type of street times would i be lokking at. the svt dealer figured i would shave a 1/2second off my 0-60time but because tracks are very few around here, he couldn't tell me the 1/4 mile times.
thanks

I didn't have a clue that the dealerships offered these services. I am curious as to where they will draw the line on mods.

Hey cyntaxx...did the dealer give you any pricing?

I bet it's gonna be outrageous but if they will back the warranty then it may be worth it.

Gotta love this board!

My dealer is a mod friendly dealer and will

offer most of those products with installs, too. Most in Atlanta area know who I mean. However, a guy was coming to dealer and reflash stock computers according to mods, but main service admitted they would try to cover warranty situations, but if ford questioned it--YOU WERE ON YOUR OWN!!

How ironic they recommend you purchase the 2 most expensive mods first
