I pretty much got lucky. Autonation bought out a SVT dealer and decided to sell some L's at the end of the mouth. They put an ad in the paper. The deal didn't work out with them so I took it to another dealer who said he would beat the deal. He did. Dealers cut prices at the end of the month to make sales quotas. Go back to the dealer a day or so before the end of the month and try him then. You will get the deal.

$30,300 No Plan with Liner and Cover. Just called around and offered it to ever SVT dealer and asked who wanted to sell a truck today. Drove 30 miles to get it, I wanted a White one as well and had to wait a week but signed all the papers that day.
Gas is Expensive, Everyone is laid off.. Who the hell is buying 30K dollar trucks that get 12mpg? Market Adjustment and Sticker Price? hahah I laughed over the phone...

Couple of suggestions
Doo a google search for car buying services, including cars direct.com. Get quotes from all who will. If that doesn't work go to ebay I believe dealers name is Dean Stallings ford in Oak Ridge Tn. (just outside Knoxville). think he has "buy it now" for 1 k over xplan 30,700(?) Says all colors available. email them offering xplan price, or place a bid with a say $30,300 max. They also say NO doc fees which usually run from $250-$500! As someone else said wait until next week for month-end. Good Luck!

Deal of the Year !!
I just bought used 2003 Red Lightning for $26,000 with 42 miles. No Kidding! I have been looking for a long time. I found it on autotrader.com. The the guy was asking $29,500. His wife won it in a contest. I offered him $25K for it. He said the dealer would buy it back for that. I offered $26k. A few days later he called and accepted the offer. I paid to have it shipped from Wisconsin to Florida. Not a scratch on it. I bought it sight unseen. Damn I like taking chances!

If you pay over 31K, you have paid too much. I just bought one 2 weeks ago and a friend bought one 1 week ago and we both paid just about 30K. I was actually a little under. No PLANS, just doing the dealership a favor and getting the L's that have been on their lots for over 9 months OFF!
The 03 Cobra's have even dropped down to 2 to 3 grand under MSRP in some areas.

called around today and got quoted 29,990 from the first dealer I called. The second dealer I called never called me back so I think I will just say screw them and keep calling until I get the cheapest quote and then go to them. I think I will be able to get it close to invoice price with a little work.

I bought my 2003 for $30,250 plus tax. I live in an inflated price area (San Francisco area). I called and emailed 10 dealers in the area. Most would not even talk discounts over the phone and many quoted MSRP of $33,310 as the bottom line. Some were marking them up $5,000! I went to Frontier Ford in Santa Clara 2 days before the end of the month, we were at war with Iraq, they had 15 Lightnings in stock and I found out that this very large dealer had only sold 1 car all day! I had a $20,000 down payment. After 3 hours, I had my truck at a price that I thought was just fine. Best of luck!
