QA1's...

Ok so i finally put my front QA1 adj. shocks...I have some questions...

Does the front of your L seem to sit higher??? I didnt think the shock would affect ride height but it seems higher?

Also the fit wasnt the best...they come with the wrong bushings, had to wait on new ones and you have to force most of the parts(PB blaster works wonders)...it seems like they werent made specfically for a Lightning...the rears wenton Perfect though..and I love them...I havent been able to get on it 100% because the weather is bad..BUT i was able to mess around a little bit and the front end def. rises ALOT more and the front seems a lot softer...obvisouly the purpose of a drag shock. But we'll see...but I need some input....Also the bushings that fit on top of the shock dont seem to fit right...I had to really tighten that nut.

Have you visited my Web page on the QA1 install: here ?

The QA1's can be a drag shock, a road racing shock, and a grocery getter shock.

Crawl under the truck, turn them up to "12" on all fours, and take a drive. Front end won't be lifting then.

Tim,

Thanks your page cant get any better...its simply awesome. Thats how we ended up installing them but after a little bit of scratching our heads...also we used the top bushings that came with the new shocks and thats what didnt fit too well..I guess you ahve to reuse the stock ones for the best fit huh?..because the stock ones have that little nipple thing that fits right under so when you tigthen the nut on top the bottom sits up..am i correct? because the on we put doesnt exactly sit as well as the stock ones...

Also how do you know when you're at 12? does the **** not move anymore? I never tried and would rathe ask.

Thanks alot.

BTW-need to ask you some questions about coil-overs I just got for my Cobra as you seem to know your suspension.

Count clicks. I believe the QA1's can go over setting 12, but they say it will void the shocks warrenty.

Hope you got the correct length rears. I've been told you will need shorter rear shocks if your truck is already lowered.

Be very careful with that adjusting **** as you can go past 12 and this will strip the **** and you will have to send it in for repair on your dime.

Count the clicks....

Just turn them counter clockwise until you feel resistance. You will know when you are just clicking between settings and have reached the end, then count as you go clockwise to stiffen them up.

I have just the rear QA-i's but love them at launch! However, it is a stiffer ride it will take some getting used to. I also added the JLP lift bars.

Question for you guys with the rear QAs...Did you use the HEIM JOINT sold by Ruslow? Do not know if he is the only source of the heim joint.

If not have you had any trouble with the rear shocks

I highly recommend the heim joints as they relieve rod stress and you do not want to end up breaking those pretty billet shocks.

Stan puts a lot of thought into his products and I feel more comfortable going with something tested by him.

How much does Stan charge for his heim joint kit? I couldn't find it on his product list over on this nloc supporting vendor section...
