03' Cobra w/ BOP Reflashed EEC
Well after all the hype and talk I finally got around to installing my Spare EEC with a BOP Reflash.
One word..........Sweet
I was waiting to intall new EEC because at the time the computer was sent off I had a list of mods which included an interchangeable upper pulley set up. Well that's not on the car yet and I didn't want it to run too rich. After talking with Mark @ BOP and reassured the car wouldn't run rich the new EEC.
Damn thing gets up in rpms and just takes off. Very very strong.
Yes this is a spare computer. Yes I can still use the original keys. The PATs is worked around. NO the Theft Light does not flash the entire time you are driving. After a few minutes of driving the Theft Light goes away.
Dyno results to follow. But man.......that EEC is a biotch to get at. I don't think I'll be doing stock vs modified EEC dyno.
Mods: Magnaflow Catted X, Magnaflow Catback, PHP Accufab Throttle Body & Intake Plenum, UPR CAI, Kenny Brown Chassis Bracing, Steeda Suspension, Pro5.0 Shifter w/MGW handle.
Mods in the closet: 4 & 6 lb interchangable upper pulley, metco idlers.

Apparently, the same unit is used for all the vehicles listed on that page. Programming should be the only difference. I wouldn't imagine that Ford would use completely different hardware for every 2001 F150 depending on engine displacement and whether or not it's blown. $239.00 bucks is better than $300.00, which is what Mark, at BOP, told me a new ECM would probably cost. It's worth checking out.
Edit: Apparently this isn't exactly true. there is a minor difference.

I'm interested to see how it goes. I've had the Reflashed EEC for about a month and a half now and I was waiting to install it. I wish the weather wasn't so rainny or the I'd have a better impression of the car now.
Time will tell. The car will be eventually put on a dyno to see how it does with the current mods and the reflashed EEC. Then a pulley or pulleys will be added. I had planned, maybe still will, a dyno of stock EEC vs reflashed. But man oh man........Flordia heat and location of the Cobra EEC make that a BIOTCH to remove the EEC.
