Custom painted Matchbox Lightnings
I found a fellow that custom paints Matchbox cars and trucks. He is quite talented. Anyway, I have a new '03 Lightning HotWheel truck I am having him redo for me. He will be redoing the truck so it looks like my stock '03 Lightning. Will be removing the Hot Wheels exaggerated engine, fixing the hood, removing the drivers side pipe and well, making it to look like my stock '03 Dark Shadow Grey L. I am even sending the guy a small container of Ford touch-up paint for the Dark Shadow Grey so the guy can get the color close. Will post here in a week or so and let you guys know how the truck comes out in case anyone wants one done for themselves.. For me, I will enjoy mine sitting on my desk when it is done.

Pic of transformed' 03 Hot Wheels L
Well, the fellow finished the redo of the Lightning '03 Hot Wheels. As I mentioned the fellow used exact touch-up paint (Dark Shadow Gray Clearcoat) to paint the truck like my '03 shadow Gray L after doing the body work, etc. Anyway, the thing came out great! Attached are pics but it they do no justice to the job done by this fellow. The paint photographed a tad darker then it actually is. If anyone is interested in having one done I can give you the guys email address. Oh, pics taken with a Canon G3 which I am just learning to use...

As you can see the Hot wheels version of the L was... well...
Anyway, I wanted the exaggerated exhaust left as is...

In actuality the model is not an exact replica... I wanted in essence a carricature of the truck not an exact replica..when viewing the model in real life, the exhaust does not appear as exaggerated as it does in the pics. IF someone wanted exhaust pipes smaller I'm sure the guy could easily do that.

You have email...
Also.... Geeeez, I see you are from Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri. Brings back memories to me. I went AIT training and then to non commissioned officers (NCO) school there in the 60's. Spent 34+weeks there altogether. Then they shipped my butt overseas. I remember Lake of the Ozarks in the Summer and COLD Winter months at FLW. Remember they found a guy at the base frozen solid in a dumpster where he had hidden to avoid training. Your L will need a Winter coat!
