I pulled on a 1.8T Jetta BAD going uphill on an 85 degree day at about 2000 feet elevation with a couple hundred pounds of cargo in the bed.

Unless the guy put a 1.8T badge on a regular Jetta, I was surprised that he couldn't keep up particularly because he was right on my *** (i.e., drafting) before my pedal hit the floor at 50mph.

We was driving like a crazy **** trying to get around traffic.

Unless the Golf is a lot lighter than the Jetta, you should have had similar results. BTW, this was with NO pulley.

There's a guy up here with a 1.8T Jetta. He's got an aftermarket turbo and some other goodies. I think he traps at 106, but expects 112 traps with a decent tune. His best ET was a low 13, possibly a 13.1 but I think it was a 13.3.

I don't know why peeps drag race front wheel drive cars. I guess the same can be said about trucks huh

You sure he didn't install an APR turbo kit. The 1.8T motor will put out almost 300 fwhp on pump gas with one of their kits

My friend has a 1.8 T Gti and its definetely a fun and peppy little car to drive around. The turbo gives it some nice power higher up the power band. With the sport package it handles pretty well too. But there is no way that its gonna walk or even stay even with an L stock for stock. Its just the truth.

There is no way he is running 19psi with the stock turbo thats on the 1.8T engine. It may spike up to 19-20psi, but it will quickly settle down to the 13-15psi range depending on whose chip his running.

Anyway, my GTI with an old chip program and a crappy exhaust (don't know what the hell the previous owner was thinking) is putting down 197HP and 225tq to the front wheels. Once I get around to a newer program and a decent exhaust I'm hoping for about 210hp/230tq. Not bad for a banger.

But like it was said, these engines can lay down over 300hp to wheels without needing the internals built up, and thats coming from a stock engine that puts out 150hp or 180hp depending on the model.

Now if VW can get a set coilpacks that don't die and fix the other wonderful problems, err I mean *VW experience* then the whole thing would be a nice little car.
