My brother is looking to buy some 16" wheels and slicks and was wondering which tire he should go with. Thanks in advance. -Mat-

Might as well go with a full time slick.

I like the full slicks. I noticed some tracks that Don goes to require the use of DOT's, such as GTP or ET Streets. If your brother goes to these, then he would be better with a set of those.

I run Hoosier Drag 28X16X10's Slicks.

Don't you have to get full slicks screwed in, etc.?

Full Slicks is the only way to go
Mine aren't screwed to the rim and don't move.

qtp's

i arm running Don's QTP's that he bought right before he decided to got to 15's. Let me put it this way, i am running 1.9's consistantly on an un prepped track on street night that my f1's couldnt' better a 2.2 in similar conditions. On a prepped track my f1's would pull 1.9's, so i'm hoping for consistant 1.8's with the occasional 1.7 with these.

Probie pulls 1.7's on Nitto DR's all the time so I would hope to see a few. These are the 28x16x11's by the way, which are supposed to hook better than the 14's. I think they hook about the same.

F1's 2.0 - 2.1
Nitto 555R 1.9 - 2.0
QTP 28x14.5x16 on 10: AR Wheels 1.78 to 1.84
Same Track average of about 60 runs so far this year

Nitto's were very inconsistant and hard to mosulate. I had to drive them out. The QTP's I just nail it. The few times I get spin I still get 1.84's.

Get the drag slicks. Your getting them to race, right? I ran the Et streets on steel rims with no screws and they never moved. I marked them with a paint stick. Iam running the Hoosiers now on American racing Baja with no screws and no movement

I have M/T 16x10 wheels and 28x11.5x16 Hoosier DOT's. They don't spin on the wheel, no tubes, 16 psi, and no screws. Last time I went to the track I was running consistant 1.6's and 7.5's in the eighth. Don't use a 16x8 wheel. That wheel is too narrow. These Hoosiers also hook well on the street if you are into that sort of thing.
