Jerry,

The FORD guys only go by vehicle. Stop by a BMW shop
and pick up the maroon or blue brake fluid. (DOT 4)

why the h#ll would you want dot4 ? ford dot3 is better.

higher dry and wet numbers in ford dot3. most racers use ford dot3 since it's a super cheep kick @ss brake fluid

My Bad. I thought I read that DOT 4 was the hot ticket.

Nope. It's DOT3. Be prepared to change it regularly, though, as it does have a tendency to attract moisture (no worse than any other "normal" fluid, though).

ATE Super-Blue. Higher boiling points and lower absorption rates. Great stuff. Better pedal feel as well. About $11/qt.

So the ATE Super Blue is better than the Ford? This is my every day driver and I will be doing a few road course events a year. I'm installing the big brake kit this week-end.

Much better. It does not absorb moisture as bad as the Ford fluid. You won't boil it with your big brake kit. Besure when you switch that you flush the whole system. Just keep bleeding until you have bright blue fluid at all four wheels. I switched to it when I went with the Stop-Tech big brakes. I am now back to stock on the brakes and the pedal feel is much better that the stock fluid. This is a great all around daily driver/ light open track fluid. There are better track only fluids but they don't work well on the street. To me this was the best of both worlds.

I run Valvoline Synthetic (clear) in my truck for daily use. It's very good about retaining performance in SA which is a very humid climate. On the track I run Motul 600, and is pretty damn near boil-proof.
