The mods keep coming 160deg thermostat done!!!

Well getting everything ready for the race in Albany Ga on Aug 16th. I got the FTVB in I just put in my 160deg Hypertech Thermostat makes a nice temp drop should help out alot here in South Ga. I got some NGK TR6's Going to put them in Sunday at the Fire station (holy cow is that going to be a job) Just waiting for my 3# pulley to come in.The truck already had the dual Magnaflow exhaust with x-pipe K&N drop in filter with the modded air box from the previous owner. I'm ready to beat my best time of 8.88 @ 80mph. If anyone wants to come the race in Albany it is for the imports but we can take advantage of the test and tune and maybe Bracket racing $100.00 to the winner.Come on and hange out it will be fun last time I went no one wanted to race me never had that problem in the Miata.
Jeff

Plugs arent that bad..Its just hard to motivate ourselves to do them....get yourelf a 7mm 1/4 inch swivel socket...this will make 7 and 8 coilpacks a lot easier....

It decreases the chance of detonation and keeps the entire engine running cooler. Some say it gives a few HP

I have heard that in some cases a 160* has caused the check engine light to come on with a "Engine temp too low" code. Has anyone here had that problem? I am debating between the 160* and the 170*.

Cool

I have only heard of 1 person having this problem out of all those that installed them. I've been running a 160 for 3 years.

I have allways had my ses light come on since I put 160 t-stat in....the code is "insufficient coolant temp.."....but this is funny cause it only does it on my daily drivr side of chip...race side of chip it doesnt.....I think you can get that shut off with chip programming...will talk w/ Paul@REM about.....as far as HP...old post by Sal, claimed allmost 10-12 hp on dyno with 160 t-stat....

Installed a Hypertech 160 in my '03 L and the Service engine soon light came on. Dealer said Engine temp too low code was what the computer said. I ended up removing the thermostat and going back with the stocker.
Anyone care to offer me $ for a Hypertech 160 with 500 miles on it? Will sell cheap..

Myself and others have in fact reported problems with the Hypertech 160 and the SES light coming on.

I heard that a 170 t-stat will not give you a code, I think thats why Sal runs them....I like my 160, but I my have to go to a 170 and try it out....

No codes yet!!!!

I have got no codes yet but I have not driven it but 15 miles since install I don't know how long it would take the ECU to put up on it.So I need to get a 7mm swivel socket that is the trick.I guess I need to get a magnet to get the coil pack bolts that I drop I'm going to tackle this Sunday so I got 24hours to get them changed before I have to leave work to go home.

Magnetic arm also works good to put the 7mm bolts back and start threading em a bit
