350Z or Mach 1?

Sorry, I know it's off topic but I'm thinking of adding one of these to my stable. Pro's and con's of each? It will be for a 20 year old. Any mods available for the Z?

Im jealous...wish I had someone buying me a 350Z. If I had a choice, thats what I would go with. The manual 350 in either the blue or the orange sunburst(copper).

Not really pros and cons, rather just my opinion

350Z = Overpriced with no power.

There's really not that much price difference between the Mach 1 and the Cobra, is there?

350Z over the Mach 1, the Cobra over either.

Theres about $4000 difference between the mach and the cobra. Its the middle line model.

Mach 1 does low 13's stock.

350Z does mid 14's stock.

We had a 350Z on the dyno today, made like 250rwhp. Considering they are advertised at 287 motor hp, I'd say that's not bad. One of the 03 Cobra guys that was there is a heavy road racer, and he said the 350s are wicked on the road courses.

Of course I'd choose the Mach .

There are several things in the works for the Z, but IMHO it is butt ugly and I say go for the fastest N/A Mustang yet.

I dig the retro look of the mustang and the performance is solid, but I have not driven that car, I did drive the 350Z the car does it all well, looks great and is priced right, I think either way you'll make a good choice.

I have a Le Mans Sunset 350Z and all I will say is go-cart. I have yet to even get the tires to squeal. Where the L was 50 in a corner the Z I do 70 now. It does have understeer. If you are buying it to be fast in the 1/4 that it is not. It wasn't built for that. Best times stock I have seen is 13.90's with the 6 speed and 14.20's with the auto. I will say it is a very good all around car for around 30k. I paid 32 and change for mine and it is a touring model. There is mods coming out for it more and more just don't believe the HP figures that some claim. Sillen has a blower and it is an Eaton it makes over 300rwhp but you have to mod the hood. That is without an intercooler. Then ProCharger has a blower kit for it now as well that makes it 370rwhp. All this is without doing any updates to the ECU. I also believe the rest of the car is stock (no cold air intake, exhaust etc...). There is one company that has an ECU update at this time but others should be coming out very soon. NISMO is now also starting to release parts as well. Here are some sites for mods:

http://conceptzperformance.com/specials.php

http://www.intensepower.com/350z.html

http://www.stillen.com/

http://www.nismoparts.com/

So there is just a lil on the Z. Trust me I have owned Fords all my life. Daily drivers to race cars, have owned gen 1 and 2 L's, 9 different years of mustangs. Never thought I would buy a Japan car but this car changed my mind for now. Who knows if Ford gets their act together again sometime I just might think about going back to a Ford.

Thanks for the input. We are leaning towards the Z at this point. From what I read on Edmunds and other sites the Z is very well liked by it's owners. We are looking at the bottom end base model. Nothing wrong with the Mach either (I really like it). It will be his choice since he will be paying. He has been driving a 94 Firehawk for three years now.

Jerry I wouldn't buy the base model. That model doesn't have a limited slip. I would at least buy an enthusiast model but they do all have the same drive train all but the rear. This is just a thought.
