Stock plugs with 18,000mile will they handle a 3# pulley

I got a 2001L and have some TR6's but the stock plugs only have 18,000miles on them. I am really not looking forward to changing these plugs. How many of you guys are running more boost on stock plugs?I have put in a 160deg thermostat so this should help lower the combustion temp which should help prevent any detonation. If I run the stock plugs and hear no detonation how long should I run them before I pull stock plugs and read them.
Thanks,
jeff

Should be fine. I ran the OEM plugs with a 3 lber and got into the high 12s that way.

Like Dan said.....Shouldn't be a problem.....I ran stock plugs with a 4lber for almost 2 months with no probs....When I took them out, they looked almost perfect......YYsenhimer ran his stock plugs for 4 months with a 4lber with no problems...His also came out clean with hardly any wear....

I've been running the stock plugs with my 3lbe'r for at least 4 or 5 months now. No problem here. I even had the tech at the local Ford dealership take a look at them (He's cool with the mods) He said they looked great, but he'd even change them if I wanted to. Oh, I have Denso's waiting, but I'm really not wanting to change them either.

I feel better!!!!

I was not really looking forward to changing them look to be much more work than on my Miata which was a 15min job.I hope I'm happy with the mods I have now.And would really love to run some 12's in the 1/4 and 7's in the 1/8th.At least I got the TR6's if I run into any trouble.I went and bought a 7mm swivle and a telescoping magnet for when I really get bored and need to blow 3-4hours changing 8 plugs. What did you guys run with the 3#er I see Lightningrod ran 12's which is what 7's in the 1/8th? What are the rest of you guys running.

Dont worry about changing the plugs. I have seen the stock plugs after 70,000 miles, 6 lb pulley, nitrus oxide, and a lot of drag racing.

They still looked great.

Trust me. 3lb is no big deal for the stockers.

Now, remember I said "high 12s"(12.8xx, I think?) with the 3 lber. My current ET is with a 5 lber and NGK BR7EFs.

High 12's

I can live with 12.99 if that is what I can get of course 12.99 when you get there is never enough is it. The other mods I have are dual magnaflow cat back with x-pipe.A modded stock air box with K&N drop in filter,FTVB,and a hypertech 160deg thermostat.Oh and stock plugs . Lightningrod what do I got to do to get you to come down to Albany Ga. on Aug16th.US19dragway is having a car show bikini contest live band and import drag race of course we can test and tune and I think Bracket race for $100.00 what do you think it is only a 1/8th mile but a nice one you will run about a tenth faster than you show at Renolds.I need someone to come and and race me the imports except for my friends are scared or something.I never had that problem with the Miata even though to date it was slightly faster than my Lightning @ 8.72 80mph to the lightnings 8.88 @ 80mph.I think this will change with the 3#er.

The stock platnium plugs will do just fine. I'm running 2# upper,4# lower,4:10 rear gears, replaced torque converter, FVTB,4x4 tran pan, nitrious and 93/110 octane mixed 5 to 5 fuel while racing. I have 70,000 miles on my 2000 Lightning, dailey driver as well. 2 weeks back there was a post on here showing my plugs along with some NGK-6 plugs. Those were out of my truck. AND YOUR NOT SUPPOSED TO USE PLATNIUM PLUGS WITH NITRIOUS. Yes they had a little melt down as could be seen, but still got 70,000 with all of the above, and truck was running smooth. Course now its smoother with the new plugs.
PS: I'm pushing 16# of boost, running 11.81 @ 115.3 in the 1/4 mile. I also have TRUE RAM AIR, by way of a 1967 Cobra hood scoop over the airbox on drivers side of the hood!
