How much for Brembos brakes?

How much would a set of brembo rotors and calipers for an 01 lightning for the front and rear cost?

can anyone recommend a good place to purchase these from?

thanks

I don't think they sell the Brembos for the rear. The front ones are around $3-$4 thousand new. I've seen a used front set on here for around $1500 plus shipping.

The Stillen kit that is based on the AP Racing CP5555 6 piston caliper is a far better kit than the Brembo and is about $400 less retail. Having written that I think either the StopTech or SSBC kit offers better bang for the buck.

I know of no one that offers a big brake kit for the rear of our trucks so I had to fab up my own.

TCE offers a front big brake kit based on Wilwood hardware for around $1500. I've got it on my truck and have been very happy with the results overall.

You have got to be kidding my, $3000-$4000 for two rotors and two calipers. That is a fu(king rip off. Spending that much money on brakes is worthless unless you do nothing but road courses.

How come all of the brembo kits (i.e. F50) are only for the front? Nobody seems to upgrade the rear rotors

Bimbos

I agree, where is the meat for that kind of money. I went to their site yesterday contemplating a set as one of my winter project upgrades. After seeing what they wanted for their kit, I started comtemplating suspension mods. For that price the rotors better be diamond studded.

No but the insurance policy likley is...

Dont forget you can do slotted/dimpled rotors and pads X 4 MUCH cheaper. And along with Brake fluid maintenance you will see a BIG improvement for the $$ - Likely MUCH more Bang per $$ than the $3k+ kits ....

For that much bread, I will chuck my rotors onto my drill press and cross drill them myself. I will also have my stock calipers powdercoated red. In my opinion, the stock brakes work wonderfully. I was heading down teh road the other day, with a buddy of mine riding shotgun. He was talking noise about how his chevy was 10 times better, and could stop better too. We were going about 60, no traffic for miles. I stood on the brake pedal with both feet, and she stopped like a dream. Why do I need those big hoggin brakes for? I don't road race.

If you don't live near mountains or road race, you don't need to upgrade your brakes. Brake upgrades have nothing to do with single-stop distance, they have to do with repeatabilty (do that same test 10 times and see what the pedal feels like when you're done).

Because the front brakes do most of the work on any car, but especially so with a front-heavy truck.

I did put some PowerSlot rotors on the rear to cosmetically match the Brembos in the front:

So if you dont road race there is no real need to upgrade brakes at all?

Nope, not really...the stock breaks do a great job...they just don't do it well more then 3-4 times without cool down. heheh.

The TCE kit is nice, theres a pretty good Stillen kit, and I know that the bunch of us Brembo owners love ours.

On the road track, I have -never- expierenced brake fade yet, and once I upgraded to a high-temp fluid, I've never boiled it since.

I'd imagine the one guy who could still push the bigger kits to the limit would be RUslow on his tour-de-fource open-road race.

If you are interested in the big brake kit, I would definately recommend you pick up Easter's used brembos, they're a steal.

If I had an extra 3 grand just laying around, I would probably use it to buy a new blower, pulleys, chip and nitrous. I guess spending 3k on a brake kit isn't my mug of beer.
