Knockout, what wheel do you use for the 14.5/30 tires?
I saw your truck at the JDM tent at FFW N.H. and loved the look and now see the set up works.

ive got 16's stock... but my calipers and rotors are smaller. did u ever think to swap em out with those from a 97-98 model F150.? instead of shaving down the calipers

My 2 cents...

My strongest designing skills are in castings.

Look at the load path (within the casting) between the pads and where the calipar's slide on the pins.

Removing material like SF has done really does'nt effect this function too much.

I'm curious as to how much material removal it takes to make them clear though? (not pics... dimensions) Generally a casting like that will have a 4-5mm thick wall in the fluid areas. ANd around 10-12mm in the structural areas.

WARNING

WARNING:

I did the mod, it works fine, BUT: you must, must, must, wear air tight eye protection, also wear a mask, you will be spitting black hockers for days, also I would use ear protection; I had glasses on only and ended up in the E.R. that night, 4 specks in one eye and 2 in the other; pain for days; I may have one eye that will NEVER be 100% again! also; the dust is very very fine and will be in the shop for a long long time; you will find rust all over your truck if you don't wash it ASAP; and park it in a safe dry place for a day or two.

I hope Chris will edit this warning into the first post!

Superfords:

I like it. I have thought about doing that also. I just haven't gotten that far yet with things yet.

For all the naysayers, they probably weren't aware that grinding the beams flat on the parting line on connecting rods used to make them a little stronger. In the case of these calipers, I don't see them getting stronger, but I don't see the amount of metal removal making them thin enough to be weak. Plus, the stress area is on the underside, not the top side where you ground them.

I keep hoping Superfords will show back up and say he bought another Lightning or Cobra. He was a great Lightning brother.

I have my brakes ground and no problems daily driving for two years. It looks much worse in pics than it does in person.
