srt-10 v lightning

There is no video or story!

Now I know the lightning losses about 11% of it's power from the flywheel to the rear tires. And that is Damn good, compared to other cars.

Any idea how much the Dodge is going to lose?

11% is good, compared to other automatics. It'll probably be about the same for the 6-spd in the Dodge.

the magical question,Lets look at the facts and leave fiction and opinion aside.

Lightning
380hp
13.6 stock (proven)
AUTOMATIC
Very inexpensive to mod $1000 to get mid 12s
$30K

SRT-10
500HP
13.9stock (estiamte from dodge)
probally low 13s with GOOD driver
6spd (could be good or bad)
$1000 might get you some fuel injection cleaner for the viper motor
$estimated $45-50K

FACT for FACT you can clearly see the overall winner. The saddest part of it all is when the new Lightning comes out in another year,The 'NEW SRT 10" is already in second and it will be put in 3rd place. If your going to compete why come out at the competions level and not better whe you know the New Lightning is JUST around the corner?

When I compare things,i compare the WHOLE picture dollar for dollar.I dont mean that which ever is cheaper OR faster wins but lets be realistic here.I respect your comment about ours being supercharged but here the deal.

Question : How many viper owners are supercharged??
Answer: Not many if any.

Question : Why arent they
AnswerS : Who the hell is gonna know how or have what it takes to supercharge this thing less then the cost of a second home?

Examples : hennesy vipers OVER $100K

In reality you can make ANYTHING as fast as you want with enough money.Everybody knows that it takes TENS of thousands of dollars to do upgrades on the viper motors.its a proven fact.Sorry but cold air kits are not going to cut it on this thing.

say you supercharge it for a unbelievable(probally impossible) $10k.That means you have a $55K dollar viper truck that will run in the 10s. yipee ,yay Im gay.(happy)

I can show you 10 Lightnings that will run your 10 second passes for $15K less to 1 of these viper trucks..get my drift. Dollar for dollar or not,Our lightnings are better. They are more user friendly ,mod friendly, customer friendly.

Im not saying they are a waste,I think for a true mopar fan,Its exactly what the doctor ordered.I applaud dodge for making it and competing with us even if they are faster then us.Thats great.THATS EXACTLY what hod rodding is about.Im so sick of NOT having any competition,It kinda makes having a Lightning boring.!!!! Heres the problem. The doctor who ordered you a dose of this viper truck is the only one who can afford it and even he is has to perform a couple extra open heart surgurys to afford to supercharge it

If I'm beat by a SRT-10, I'm not going to be disappointed, it has exra 2 cylinder ans it's 500cu, in compared to 330.

SO they will be putting out about 400-450 at the rear wheels

initial testing on the STR-10s place them at the 13.6-13.7 range. I've seen stock lightnings run anywhere between 13.44 to 13.9. with a really efficient drivetrain, decently light and earodynamic body, (not to mention a MUCH lighter motor), the current Lightnings with 380 HP and 450 TQ can keep up just fine with the str-10's, not to mention the potential with it being a supercharged motor. "d'oh" says dodge!

regardless, the new STR's are gonna be sweet, but dollar for dollar, it's just an overpriced piece of beautful machinery.

-Mike

P.S. rumor has is dodge may be tryin to skip the viper motor and put a supercharged hemi in the new SRT-10's. hmm, that would actually be sweet!
