Ok Shimmed the TT Bars

Even before shimming them,
WHY IS ONE SIDE soooooooooo different in clearance ???
I had 1-3/4" before I shimmed, but the other side was closer,
I figured the truck was just sitting weird on the rock driveway.
(I'll measure again later in the street)

I shimmed both sides the same, now have 1-1/4 on the pass side,
but barely 1" on the drivers side

Used the square steel for shims, only used 1 to start

This was the look before shimming
You can see the snubber and the orig distance
(center of Exhuast)

Shims fit perfect, but I'm concerned on why each side is
different. BTW I just went out and measured from the
wheel well to the rim, and I have quite a diff between the two sides ??? WTF

Could it just be sitting funny ?

youll definitly want to try it on level ground. I thought my whole truck was sitting crooked this past weekend in my driveway...when I checked later at a gas station it was fine. I was getting about a .3" difference in fender gap. The whole left side of my truck was lower than the right.

The only thing that puzzles me is that I never once noticed it being crooked before... I notice everything, and it makes me wonder...

Too many right hand (left hand) turns at high speeds ???

That's why you need to road course that puppy ... It keeps
the bed straight...... <grin>

Glad it worked for ya Rob ... Now just even them up with shim
(PS...That MAY be why you were hopping to begin with ...
since it is critical that both sides hit at the same time ...)

Got sent to Bayonne Terminal this morning, boy that wind blew
They "needed" a welder overthere. So I couldn't work on the bottle mounting items, but here's a pleminary shot of one of them.
I'll finish them up thursday morning. See ya friday
This is the 3" tall one, the other will be 1" tall

@ Gator

HOLY MOLY, They're BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAUTIFUL

Awesome Job Gator,
I absolutely LOVE THEM, YOU DA MAN
You do excellent work my Friend, very impressive indeed.

BTW

Went over to my Dads house
(he has a brand new concrete driveway)
Truck is sitting perfect, 32-1/2" from ground to wheel well,
identical on both sides, identical Snubber distance,
BUT still way too far away. I re-did it with 2 Steel Shims
on each side and they are now exactly 1-1/4" away,
and identical on both sides, IS THAT GOOD ????

It's got to be better, those shims are thick as Schitt x 2 ea side

You could actually have them both touching the springs. Probably about 3/4 would be a good clearance.

So you likey

You better bring &

BTW.....see if you can locate 4- 3/8x1 Stainless cap screws with flat and lock washers with nuts to mount the bottle to the bracket

And stainless hardware to go into the nuts in the bed to mount the bracket itself. Then you will be blingin

Thanks everyone

3/4" Hu ? That aint happening for this weekend,
Unfortunatly with 2 of those meaty slabs of steel
in there, the rear u-bolts are already actually too short, the threads don't even come all the way through the nut anymore,
so there's no way I can shim it any more unless I buy diff U Bolts.
They're in there enough though, "almost" all the way through", plus the nuts are extra long. But no room for anymore.

Like I say, either way I'm surly closer than before, hopefully it'll help better my 1.6 60ft times, who knows maybe even get rid of that wheel hop prob I experienced. If I can gain a tiny bit in the 60, I'm in

Yes Gator I Love the Bottle Brackets, excellent workmanship
Don't think I will get a chance to find SS cap nuts and Bolts tommorrow cause I got tons to do to get ready, I'm gonna have to be up 4ish and hit the road by 5ish, remember I got 100+ miles to just make it to V's house by 7:30. As for the Beers we'll
stop on the way there and I'll buy all the beer you want.
I owe ya big time for this one

Rob,

That picture of the snubber looks to far forward to me. Maybe that is why your clearance is off. I thought that the snubber is suppose to be in between the rivet and the end of the leaf. That is where I have mine and I am exactly 1in1/4 on both sides.

Rob,

I think so too ... You seem to be a bit farther ahead than most....

Cliff

I had to move mine back a bit to clear my Bassani exhaust also...

For the rest of my life

I think everybody hit on your problem Rob, your bars "might" be to far foward. When I had them, I also had to move them backwards in order to clear my Bassani like SVT_KY

WOW do you think So
Either way I'm gonna have to run it this way, (no time to change)
what the hell it's got me 1.6 / 1.7 's everytime "so far".

What are you guys saying, it should hit right on the
seam of the overlap of the last two leaf's ???

This looks cool to me ? there is clear marks where it hits,
they do kinda ride the side of the curvature, but so far
it's seemd good there ?
