Intercoolor Cleaning - A How-To...

I really don't want to remove the supercharger or the I/C. Can I just buy some TB Cleaner and spray in the TB to clean it up? Or will this hurt the S/C?

Maxpower,
That is an awesome write up. I did just that this past weekend but went a step head of you and removed the manifold also. What an oily mess. I used 5 cans of carb cleaner. Taking it apart was the easy part putting it back together was a pain in the a$$. How does the truck feel now??? Mine feels much stronger now.... I recommend that this needs to be at least once for anybody who is willingly to go through labor or pay to have someone else do it... Congrats on the task..... I am sure glad I did it..

This may be a dumb question since I have not looked, but is it easier to change spark plugs while doing this (supercharger removed). I will be changing plugs soon and after seeing this post will now be cleaning the I/C as well.
How much and what kind of oil do you use for the supercharger?
thanks
Frank H.

For s/c'r oil, go to a Pontiac(some Chevy's too) Dealer and ask for their s/c oil. It's the same as ours(made or supplied br Eaton) but at about 1/2 Ford's price.

I'm thinking of installing an AED kit for my Ford Crown Vic, which uses an Eaton blower SIMILAR to the Lightning's...
How often do I need to clean the intercooler and change the S/C oil?
Couldn't I use some type of synthetic oil for the S/C or does it have to be "Eaton Supercharger oil"?
Why does the Intercooler get so dirty?
