14 pounds of boost on a stock L

I was wondering what the best amount of boost everyone has ever got on a stock L. I own a stock L (for now) and decided to have a little fun yesterday and and punch down my road. It was about 45 degrees outside and I don't know the air pressure or anything. I normally get pretty high boost for an L but I looked up at about 40 mph and I was getting (estimated as the boost gauge was in the black) almost 14 pounds of boost! I don't know how this is poosible as my L is completely stock. I haven't been able to get to the track yet but am very interested to do so. Has anyone ever had this on their L?

They are supposed to puch 8# stock.
Mine used to go past the 10# mark on the stock gauge.

With my 3# My Ford Racing gauge registers 14-15#

If you're using the stock gauge they're not very accurate. Put an aftermarket gauge on there and see what it really is. Plus once it gets past 10 psi it's a guess what it really is.

I've never seen a stock L hit much past 8 psi. Are you sure it's the stock upper and lower pulley?

I bought the truck back in feb. from a guy that pampered it. He gave me everything right down to the oil filter box he used. he was the kind of guy who wouldn't even use Mobil 1 motor oil if Ford didn't recommend it so I doubt he even thought about any modifications

Well, a stock Lightning can't make 14 psi of boost so either the gauge is wrong or the upper or lower pulley is changed. They came with 8 psi stock, so 14 is too far from that for something else not to be going on.

You can maybe pick up 1# with cold weather, the stock gauge is not accurate its usually 3# +/- off, so dont go by that

My stock '02 consistently gets 10.5 lbs as measured by an AutoMeter electronic boost gauge. Only mod on engine at all is JLP filter box.

That's true, a lower restriction inlet system (air filter) will allow more boost also. I know on the centrifugal engines I've done a small inlet filter can cost several pounds of boost as the air has a tough time getting into the engine.

I still don't see 14 psi of boost on a completely stock engine.

mine pegged 10 consistantly when I didnt have a pulley, I did have a cone filter and chip though.... now I have practicaly no idea what the actual boost is...need some gauges for x-mas this year or something..
