Question tire advice

I have an extra set of stock wheels lying around and since I'll probably be driving the Lightning this winter can someone recomend a good set of winter driving tires for them? I need something for occasional ice and snow. Or do you guys just get a set of take offs from a regular F150?

My daily driver took a dump last week.

I'm okay. A few trees at 70 mph can't stop me.

Toyo makes an awesome looking winter tire. It's available in a 285x60x18 size and looks like a performance tire with a winter tread. It's called the Open Road A/T.

The picture doesn't do it justice as it looks much better in person.

Another tire that might work even better is the Dunlop Grand Trek WT M2. It comes in a 255x55x18 tire size and is only slightly taller than a stock Lightning tire. It's also a little narrower, which would help in traction.

Does anyone know if a 255mm wide tire would fit okay on a 9.5" wheel? Those Dunlops look pretty good.

It would work okay, especially for a winter tire that won't be seeing high speed driving. It's right on the edge of acceptance though. Dunlop doesn't show a tire width recommendation, but Pirrelli shows an acceptable rim width of 7.5 to 9.5 for their 255x55x18 winter tire.

255 wide tire will fit on a 9.5in wide rim...but thats kinda pushing it. I would go to a 265 or 285mm wide. You can get a Nitto Terra Greppler in 285/60/18...and BFG A/T KO in 265/65/18...both would do well in mild snow on a Lightning.
