Lets just hope they don't have to take it for a test drive

Thanks for your help billarf, thanks everyone

Checking tranny fluid level

Proper way to check tranny fluid level:

1) Have your glasses on so you can see the dipstick marks

2) Tranny fluid should be HOT

3) Truck on level ground

4) While engine is running/ vehicle stopped with foot on brake, work the tranny through all gears to include reverse.

NOW .........................

5) Check dipstick level while tranny fluid is hot, truck is level, engine running while truck is in neutral.

so I checked it, I first drained the pan into a 1
gallon empty antifreeze container, then there was
only a little left in the pan, (maybe 1QT).
I bought extra fluid, I'll take it for a nice calm ride
later and then check it again, Thanks.
I thought you might have lost a QT. in your eye but I see you found it! J/K

YES IT IS
NOT A LOT THOUGH, just a tiny bit,
I'll talk to Johnny about it after I get a little more
seat time in and see how it is.

I've had early programs that had transmission pressure
increase and I hated them. I gave up at least two or three
because it banged or shifted not to my liking.
My current Chip IS NOTHING LIKE THAT, just a tiny bit of
tranny tweaking by Johnny, it was a tad more positive than
stock. Maybe more of a duration between shifting change,
than a pressure change. I remember something about 200MS.

No sweat, I aint gonna go hot rodding around testing it out. Schitt, I didn't even WOT it yet. Tommorrow we got Jeep plans and a party to go to, but I'll get some seat time in and see if it's too much. If it is, I'll talk to Johnny, and we'll fix it, thats all.

Congrats on the succesful install Rob. Just a random question, but does anybody know how the 2CR valve body can be purchased. I'm getting used to the 2C version and feel that i need a stronger shift.

Rob, Mine took 7ish quarts in the end. FYI

I think I understand your feelings on the harshness? This does tend to be a subjective matter. When your 19 yrs old, if it did'nt break your neck it was'nt a "solid shift". And when your old a 4 door family car is too firm. I take it your wanting a normal driving session to not bark the tires?

Just talk to Gregg. I know he's customized VBs for people before.

And I installed mine before the chip/dyno tune and also before the converter. At 1/2 throttle it would give a solid bark but not go sideways.

One thing I really really like now is the converter. At about 50% throttle. It's "there" durning the shift but not harsh or tire chirping like it used to be. It give a nice solid fwd movement with out feeling a bang. And when at the track sometimes after a good 1 hour cool down it'll bark my ET streets. The converter has my 100% approval because I still get the best of both worlds. Softer under easy driving and all out on the strip.

Thanks Rich,
GREAT INFO
HAPPY HOLIDAYS BTW

I got to assume the low 40's hi 30 degrees had something
to do with it spinning so much last night, plus I do have a tiny
bit of tranny tweaking "via the Chip" than can be removed
if need be.

But ya, part of my Love for this vehicle, has been also
to run 12.8 on F-1's (I see your a champ at that too)
12.7's on Hoosiers
and to hit a switch and turn that into an 11.8 w/Hoosiers,
while still maintaining 100% of the factory comfort, and
the original exhuast and suspension.

I am very happy with the results and think with some more
seat time, and MAYBE the chip tweaking taken away,
THIS IS GONNA ROCK

Rob02,

I found that after a few drives w/ the FT VB the harshness seemed to settle down a bit, I believe Gregg mentioned the fluid working thru the "worm trail" in VB is the reason for initial harshness. hope this helps, enjoy! Jon

I did the same... I didnt think it was as messy as everyone else said also. Everyone said just poke a whole in the stock pan, because I did have the 4x4 to swap it out. I decided to keep the fac pan also. I did use the 4x4 pan, Im just saying it wasnt as messy as I thought by draining it out a corner at a time...
Good job on getting the FTVB in, and glad ya like it. I love mine.
