Sometimes it just the little details that get ya
My driver side headlight went out about 2 months ago. I got new bulbs (the bright ones?) from Josh (Harley #356) and replaced them, but to no avail the light still did not work.
I figured it must be in the wiring (the fuses were O.K.) and my highbeams worked.
It has been pretty cold out so I have not really messed with it.
Well today(nice weather) Captainoblivious and Mike (the cop) came over to help with my KB switch (put it back on) and afterwards we started to try and figure out the headlight situation.
We tried changing the bulb again and checking fuses and the light was still out.
Pete was under the dash and Mike was under the hood by the fuses. All the sudden it lights up. I go "who did that" they both go "Not me" . Then the light goes out again. Then comes back on again, so we go back and forth for 5 minutes and realize that the fuse was loose.
So basically I bought new bulbs , changed them and drove around with one headlight out , FOR NO REASON .
Enough to make we want to drink.

I had similar happen to me. Cheap aftermarket bulbs fried my wiring harness pigtails. I repaired them as best I could till I found replacements.
Installed the replacements and drivers side light still flickered. After a WTF I found out(from owners manual) that the headlamps are on different fuses and checked the fuse box.
The fuse socket was slightly loose so what I did is take a pair of needle nose pliers and gently twist the blades on the fuse just a hair.
End of problem.
